Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I promised before I'd donate some of the excess profit from the site to charity (no-one is taking money out from the site just for clarity) but I haven't made a donation yet.

Can I have some suggestions again for where people would like this to be, then I'll put up a poll and we pick our charity.

I do only want to do one for 'this year' .... just for ease.

Gaultstats have one.... .but any suggestions will be added....

I've had to do this for my work and it's really tough, so it will go to a vote. What matters to some doesn't to others and having to respect that can be tough.... from the off this will just be a public vote on here, noy anyones decision and I want all to respect that.

Any charity put forward will go in to the vote. I would love everyone to respect the decision no matter what without it getting any deeper.

    Nominations:
    Greatwood Charity
    Ronald Mcdonald House charities
    Injured Jockey Fund
    AgeUK

      A very thoughtful gesture.
May I suggest Ronald Mcdonald House charities.
They have accommodation at/close to specialist children hospitals across the uk, allowing families to be as close as possible to their sick child, without the hassle of travelling home and continuing some kind of normality for families during an extremely difficult time.
Even when grabbing a mcdonalds rounding your pennies up will help with the amazing work this charity does.

Step inside one of our Houses A Ronald McDonald House is a comfortable and welcoming place for families with sick children to rest, just steps...

Given the nature of the site Injured Jockey Fund would be an obvious option.

Otherwise options I would put forward would be Trussell Trust who are the UKs biggest food bank charity or Children's Book Project which aims to give disadvantaged children the chance to have a book.

I would add, there is no wrong choice just a great gesture.

AgeUK rely on donations, they've helped me a lot in the past year.

That’s great. Again as relevant to the site, retraining for Racehorses, which is support for life after racing for retired racehorses and rehiring/keeping them active in other roles such as eventing etc.

….Greatwood doesn’t have the profile of the IJF, so I would suggest monies be sent to a cause that cares for the animals who provide us with so much pleasure.

+1 for this, plenty on here either suffer or have been directly affected by mental health issues and it's a severely underfunded area.

Great idea Kev and so many worthy charities have been nominated already.

I hadn't heard of AaronLad's charity until now. Just looked them up and then read some of the stories on the website. Phenomenal! Thanks for highlighting

I'd suggest a racing related charity, not to dismiss the excellent work of other charities but it's what this place is about, I'd say the IJF or https://www.greatwoodcharity.org/horses.html

I'd agree with any racing charities or mind (or any other mental health charity anyone suggests) given their links to the forum and how we do things.

Another charity close to my heart is Dogs Trust simply because we rescued my first two dogs from there just before COVID and I love(d) them to bits.
