Inneston has the better page on paper at least, as he’s by the prolific mare Robbe who has produced some decent horses over the years. Inneston is the first by Doctor Dino and although younger brother let the family name down recently, Inneston has got race course form to his name. Doctor Dino is the sire of sires in France and commands the highest fee and his progeny also tend to be sharper early on. If he’s good enough of course, Inneston should be right for novice hurdling rather than a slow burner.
A few were against Irish Point due to his sire being Joshua Tree who is unproven in the NH ranks. For me, I’m not as concerned by that as he’s new to the scene and has only had horses on the track for 4 years. The main thing that gives me hope Joshua Tree can excel at stud is that he’s from an exceptional bloodline when it comes to producing NH sires. His sire Montjeu is responsible for the many of the new generation of NH stallions, all of which seem to breed out daddy’s quirks. Montjeu himself comes from the Saddler’s Wells bloodline and that’s jump stallion royalty. Given the right arsenal of NH mares I think Joshua Tree can make his mark. Irish Point is out of a French jumping mare so he’s got substance to hopefully make his mark over obstacles.
I am eagerly looking forward to both and even more so after the result on Friday. I’d expect Irish Point was pulled due to the ground so hopefully they’ll find an engagement soon.
