I love how today showed that even when a jockey knows a horse so well, he can still get it wrong.
I kind of knew I was done when he was still on the bridle coming down the hill.
Surely Coleman should have gone for him earlier and got him off the bridle, he would have kept going for longer then the others, by waiting all he was doing was allowing others with more speed to retain their finish. It was worth a try.
Probably didn't matter anyway to be fair, as the French horse came out of nowhere, literally.
And he probably wouldn't have gone much faster either, he needed a stronger gallop earlier on.
8-1 NRNB looks fair. For the French horse (I'll never use it's name)
Not even going to look any of the posts before me but I was there today and if the French horse wants to come across then he'll easily be good enough to beat the best of the English !
Always runs to that 150ish mark over hurdles a good yardstick to rate a race around
The french horse will need to improve again to contend in march
Travelled nicely today though
Maries rock beat DD with more authority carrying a penalty which maybe gives us an idea of the strength of the form
Fair assessment tbh, They've got to give the winner high 150s to tie it all together. They've gone very steady for the first couple of miles didn't get racing until 7f out really prob why PP travelled unusually smoothly for too long. Nothing has had to prove stamina there today imo, trouble is come March if FP isn't in it your looking at a horse like Dashel to potentially set the pace again. This race really needs a pace angle or rife to get messy(as if it isn't already).
"In my mind I thought he could run well – and he did. It's expensive to supplement him for the Stayers' Hurdle and we are not rich, but I will talk with the owner and we'll see. If it's possible we will go and it would be a dream to come here in March."
