Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Do you amend your books to be as per your preference nearer the race? Obviously done a lot of work to get in a solid position on the market principles but if you actually form a different opinion on most likely winner to the one you have top of the book, you have the benefit from that of being able to manoeuvre a different position I assume. So in short; will FV still be your best result come the off do you think?
    Don't be daft.

Short answer is yes, I'd tinker with a book to get the horse I fancied the most to be the best result but that doesn't always happen. For example in the Champion Hurdle Constitution Hill is by far the most likely winner, but not my best result by a long stretch, but I can't really do anything about it.

As a general rule, if the SP fav is my best result, I feel that's a job well-done ante post. I'd then take a fresh look on the day of race markets and act accordingly. Realistically I'd have to really strongly disagree with the market leader being fav to do anything drastic and it doesn't happen very often though!

In Facile Vega's / Supreme case.... even though I don't think he's the best bet now at the prices, I think he'll go off favourite... therefore without having any reason to strongly oppose him, then I'm unlikely to change it. As I said above though, very much depends on what prices he is, and what is available elsewhere... any offers etc... so things could change and always on the hunt.

Aye, makes sense to be fair in the book building world. Obviously very alien to someone that doesn't.
Think it's a far more level headed game than I'm capable of

Might have a go on a couple of races next year though, early doors.

Arkle is usually best place to start I'd think.

We did do a video on it around October - Spectre does it better than most

Cheers. Found them (9th October). Do vaguely remember but didn't take too much in on the book building to be honest as I wasn't planning to do it for this season and even October's probably later than ideal to get started in many cases. Remember more about the discussion around the merits of roll ups at the time

I'll have a watch back though with the intent of having a go for 2024. Arkle makes sense. Was thinking novice chasers was probably the starting point for me.

                • I'm assuming that's his entire Festival team so anyone NOT on that list isn't going.

What an incredible amount of work riders he has !!

                    • There’s only 40 on that list, there’s either a page 2 missing or a few aren’t being shown, he will be sending over more than 40 I would imagine…
