Hi,
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your forum. I love Cheltenham and my NH betting is mainly focused around the festival. Betting is my hobby but I try extremely hard to place selective bets. I record weekly my views on the runners who are likely to run at the festival but love the views of others whether I agree or not it can sometimes bring my view to a more reasoned outcome.
I hope I can make a useful contribution to a wonderful forum. Thanks again for allowing me to use your forum.

Welcome on board Hussard.
If you've been lurking for a while you'll know we're a pretty friendly lot, so join in and get posting.
Is you name a tribute to the horse that was with Oliver Sherwood, or to Hussard Collonges the old favourite with Peter Beaumont?Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Hi all, Long time lurker and I have been following the forum for a few years now. Decided to sign up when I had a bit more time on my hands due to covid and other reasons but the main reason now for the sign up is because the Cheltenham fever is starting to grow significantly over the the Christmas period with all the racing.
My last festival was a profitable one, thanks to this forum. Lot of knowledge on here and I would like to express and also grow my own knowledge from discussions in the threads. I have followed the NH racing for over 10 years but this year is my first with a few proper antepost bets for the festival.
Looking forward to being a part of the FJ community and adding to the great debates

Hello all I feel like I’ve been here for ages and i am finally peeping my head round from behind the curtain!!!
I picked my username as it brings back fantastic memories from 2010 when I got the whole pub on him at 40/1 (apologies for the putrid after time) it was pre betting on phones I think, as we watched his price plummet before the off….. always extra special having the last winner of the festival.
I have had a few decent festival wins down the years and a few that got away, I was a big Djakadam fan and stuck with him after the Hennessy at 3 figure prices on the machine….. bloody novices in the gold cup!!!
I needed Oscar whiskey once for a massive Henderson perm all my friends were extremely nervous for me and asked me why I wasn’t…. Because Big Bucks is running and he can’t beat him so nothing to be nervous about I said!!!
My first festival memory is rushing down the bookies with my weeks paper round money and having twenty quid on Mulligan in the arkle at evens I thought he was an absolute certainly….. I took my school tie off and pretended I had just popped out from the office!!! Probably should of learn’t something that day when he came down but here I am 25 years later still loving the Cheltenham festival.
I would just like to commend the knowledge and discussion on here it really is second to none and the place to be for all things festival, I hope I can contribute something along the way!

Evening all. Been lurking for a couple of years now, and checking in more and more frequently recently so thought i'd get involved. Reason i haven't contributed before is, frankly, that I'm not sure how muich value i can add really. I have nowhere near the level of knowledge and experience of the majortiy on here. Certainly in regards to the incredible in-depth form analysis that goes on from a number of members.
Not a lifelong racing fan, wasnt really a thing in our house growing up, apart from the Grand National of course. First racing memory i guess was being stood on the (uncovered terrace) away end at Portsmouth in April 1995, lovely spring day, crowded round a portable TV at half time that someone had brought with them, watching Royal Athlete win the national. I think only 1 person had backed him! The TV had a massive arial but the screen must have only been about 10 inches, with 500 blokes trying to crowd round! Seemed like 500 anyway, I was a mere snip of a lad at the time.
But only really got into Cheltenham and NH racing in about 2005. I credit Denman partly for that, still my favourite horse, and I will probably always be partial (sometimes to my detriment!) to an honest galloping front runner. Though the mighty Denman had more class the just being "honest"of course. I was there the day he won his Gold Cup. Amazing. Also fell in love with Min the year he ran in the Supreme, his pre Chelts runs at Punchestown were electric. I was convinced he was going to hack up and had my biggest ever single (at that point) on him, and was crestfallen on the steps in Tatts when Altior did him. Didn't know Altior was Altior at the time of course. And Buveur D'Air in third. Wow.
Even though i attended Cheltenham most years since 2005, I would say I was only a casual NH fan until about 5 years ago when I tried to take a bit more notice of the form through the season and get involved a little bit ante post. I don't have masses of bets, I generally try to find 2 or so I like in each race and get them lining up at nice ante post prices and leave it at that. Can be quite a lot of trading and cashing out before i settle on the chosen 2. Few bets in the week itself on the handicaps or if anything pops up. Absolutely love the week itself. Usually have the afternoons off work and watch in the pub or at home, then attend the course one day. Last few years have done Gold Cup Day. Tuesday has to be my favourite racing wise though, every race is a cracker.
I dont bet on horses much outside of Cheltenham really. If i ilke a weekend runner, i'll back it for Cheltenham instead of that day (unless it makes sense to back on the day and roll winnings on to chelts ante post of course). Occasionally bet on the cricket (huge cricket fan), fourth innings run chases have strange odds sometimes, have seen world record chases trading in low single figures after a modest start to the innings, bizarre.
Thats about it. Unfortunately with a busy work and family life, as i said I just dont have the time to do masses of form studying (bit of a cop out, sorry). Much repect to those that put all that effort in, and moreso share that insight on here. But, alas, I've taken enough from the site that i feel i should try to at least contribute a bit, so will chip in where i can, with an opinion, or an angle.
Oops, that got a bit long, soz. Cheers all.

Nice to make your acquaintance Tank. And thanks for sharing your racing history. If you like Denman and you like cricket, you're okay in my book!
And there's no need to compare to others here. Every contribution is welcome and matters, whether it be an opinion on something, or an observation on something else.Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.
