Binocular got a 170 in a grade 2. If including chases, Sprinter Scare got a few 170+ performances I'd be sure.

Just had a look - 171 twice in grade 2s.

I’ll do a search of RPRs annually over 2m and get back to this later ^

Istabraq 172 I'd guess will be highest

            • Epatante been pushed out to 100/30 now . Hopefully it's just the Goshen factor. That does seem too big though for what she should be imo.

Guess that depends on how you look at her last performance

This reaction isn’t to her last run. It’s to something thats happened in the last 24 hours. Hopefully, as Lobos says, just Goshen’s performance and a recalibration on the top of the market.

She drifted when Honeysuckle won and now drifted because Goshen has won. The challengers are most certainly there this season. And she's going to the race off the back of a defeat and a back injury.

Good guess and joint 3rd ....so horses who have recorded a RPR 167+ in a hurdle race at 1m7.5-2m1 that wasn't a G1 goes as follows.

2014 Scottish Champion hurdle(G2 hcap) MTOY 169RPR off top weight.
2012 Kingwell hurdle Binocular 170 RPR
2008 International hurdle Binocular 172 RPR
                      2005 Bula/International hurdle Harchibald 168RPR
2005 Morgiana hurdle Brave Inca 167RPR
2004 Greatwood hurdle Rooster Booster 167RPR(only 4th but topweight again results in a good RPR to rate a race around)
                      2004 Bula/International Back In Front 170 RPR
2004 Tote/Betfair hurdle Rooster Booster 173 RPR(2nd off top weight)
2002 Greatwood Rooster Booster 170 RPR(won off top weight)
2001 Powers Gold hcap Hurdle Grimes 167 RPR (5th off topweight)
                      2001 Bula(G2 non hcap) Valiramax 170 RPR
2001 Betdaq hcap race Grimes 167RPR(won off top weight)
                      2000 Bula(G2 non hcap) Geos167 RPR
2000 Welsh champion hurdle Mister Morose 170 RPR ( won off top weight)
2000 Stout hcap hurdle Grimes 167 RPR (won off top weight)
1999 December Festival Hurdle Istabraq 172 RPR
1998 Fighting 5th(G2 then) Dato Star 172 RPR
                      1996 Scottish champion hurdle(hcap) Alderbrook 175 RPR(won top weight)
1994 Betfair hurdle Oh So Risky 171 RPR(head 2nd off top weight)
1993 Bula(G2 non hcap) Staunch Friend 169 RRP
1993 NYD Hcap hurdle Muse 167 RPR (won off top weight)

Winning/going close in hcaps really impresses an assessor judged on that, but given they go off weights and distances beaten it's no great surprise. The list of names above is seriosully impressive and if you can trust the RPR ratings are as consistent now as they have been they certainly think he's top tier material!

                      • It's a very British thing int it ?

                        Sexism
                        The underdog complex.
                        Thirst for Justice.
                        Redemption.
The small/working man vs the upperclass elite.

All contributing to the prices shake up in this market.
                        And a 167 RPR

                        But seriously,

Goshen is a definite fanboy type of horse,
A betting shop fidgeter's dream horse.
An armchair Saturday's racing fan type of horse.
A still buys newspapers daily type of horse.
A don't like spicy food type of horse.
A God save the queen type of horse.
A wears loafers and half mast trousers type of horse.

And it's close enough to Cheltenham for those boys to be getting involved.
