It was certainly more extensive but until evidence proves otherwise I’d say the best horse defeated by either is My Drogo.
Tenuous and circumstantial though, even if you believe this to be true.
I’d say if you asked 100 people which horse’s first hurdle run you’d be more surprised about and willing to forgive.
it’d be 100 % for kilcruit.
only an idiot would say differently
which is why most think ones a pig and one is worth forgiving for now.

Well my favourite film of all time is 12 angry men so not in love with that line of reason. I will politely retreat now as I am in danger of coming across like an idiot
I totally understand all that you say but at the end of the day anybody giving a pass on the basis of fitness when so many others are winning is merely making themselves feel better imo. There is no actual evidence as I can see. I am maximus had strong bumper form and is now a pig, Kilcruit had strong bumper form and wasn’t fit ...it feels selective and tbh sometimes feels a little in one direction. And yes I get IAM has a bloody weird action
From what I can see Willies best novice hurdlers win fto season after season even accounting for GE to be fast off the blocks and Willie less so, so as it stands there is no evidence that I can see to believe Kilcruit is one of his best and any opinion to the contrary is a strategy based on hope rather than on expectation based on empirical evidence.
of course this could be proved wrong but if it is it is an exception based on the trainers history with his supreme and ballymore winners and not something to expect.
I can forgive elimay as the circumstances are genuinely extenuating, or at least very far from ideal, traveling over two weekends in a row after not getting a race the first time. Kilcruit I don’t think I can forgive, winner may have been decent but other than the Elliott horse the rest wanted to be nowhere near him so don’t think there’s much merit in saying well he still pulled well clear.
edit: I could chance him again if stepped up in trip it’s probably worth saying.

Agree seeing as the third home took 15 runs on the flat to get rated in the 70s.
I don't own or train horses but Willie does and if he thinks Kilcruit is his Supreme horse who am I to argue after all he has had more good horses than I've had hot dinners.
Rather than bemoaning or making excuses for the performance of kilcruit, should we not be looking at the performance of the winner. It could be that kilcruit just bumped into one, and they both prove to be very useful animals at Cheltenham
Best time of the day 2m Hurdle which there were 4 races, not bad for a 2 horse race.
If largy debut hadn't ran Kilcruit would have been an easy winner and a very short price for the supreme !
Well the bookies would have to had ignored his hurdling that was far from what I would want from a potential supreme winner. Both Henderson horses look far more natural at jumping a hurdle and deserve to be a lot shorter odds.

I wouldn't argue with that but being a Willie mullins horse the bookies don't need much of an excuse to chop the odds !
I personally hate horses who have been beatin first time out at odds on and especially heavy odds on first time out in a new discipline, forget kilcruit, lay all day and to a lesser extent elimay, lay lay lay! What my wij at the festival

I'm almost positive I heard a quote around cheltenham/drf time this year from mullins where he said something about kilcruit being a very easy horse to get fit and because of his frame he doesn't carry much condition, something along those lines.
Thats why I would be a little surprised if fitness is the reason for that run today, my guess is he's either just not a very good horse over hurdles or else an issue will pop up when they examine him.
edit: (from irishracing after kilcruit won at navan on 5th december 2020)
"he is a very light horse and doesn't take a lot of work to get fit and maybe that's why he's won today"

Imagine if someone had told you a month ago that two Henderson horses would be sub 5-1 (and neither of them were IAM), and you could back any Irish horse you wanted at 10-1 plus.
I suspect the Supreme has many more twists and turns to take before 13.30 on March 15th next year.

Well Henderson told everyone how good his novice hurdlers were this year ... ....just not necessarily the right ones....after IAM and the mare that looks like she needs 4 miles and one or two others I think many of us had stopped listening by the time he repeated this to nick luck...well a lot of us are listening now....balko coastal looked nice enough today too and the jock said he will come on a ton for the run. The best of the Irish v the best of the British ...maybe we will have a little of this again next year fingers crossed

The owners mustve paid for the season on balco Coastal today
Went from 15/8 to 8/11 in minutes
Someone I know was told to back him for the ballymore by the owner so they must be on at 50s too
Be interesting to see where he goes, wore a hood and was very keen today so doesn't strike me as a ballymore horse but if the owners are on we will just have to see
