On a different topic (I appreciate it’s been discussed many times but I’m still not sure so I will ask in the hope of clarity). Is a horses hurdle and chase mark the same if they are no longer a novice at hurdles or will they always differ?? It’s in relation to Wholestone plus a load of other horses being sent chasing later than you’d expect in their career. From what I can gather he’s currently rated 153 over hurdles but not won much and for his past and only chase race which he won was rated 143 so does that mean if he could enter the Chase handicap races at the Festival instead of graded novice races if he stays racing over hurdles, even if he wins??

Thanks Quevega, Sorry my wife’s was pestering me to sort the kids pack lunches out from next door whilst I was typing and its my first rota day off so starting to get a bit bleary eyed plus I’ve put a screen protector on my phone finally but it keeps bumbling all my words up!!
So potentially an older horse like Wholestone who can’t improve much more over hurdles could be still classed as a novice chaser and then potentially be entered into the Close Brothers or thrown in the deep end in the Brown Advisory against grade 3 company off a competitive mark?? It’s not going happen but is it possible?

I’ve just backed Eamon An Cnoic for the Betvictor on Saturday 16th November at Cheltenham. He’s currently 25/1 with a boost up to 27.5/1. I think it’s a big price for a horse who is being aimed at this race. The owners are apparently travelling over from America to watch him and nearly all the trends and stats highlight him. I can see him a lot shorter than this on the day

Mind you the horse may be ‘ridiculously well handicapped’ for only one run, and so going for a bigger pot like the Greatwood may appeal to connections."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Not sure were else to put it and didnt want to start a new thread!
Basically looking some hints and tips for a 10 to follow competition (Sorry if there is a thread with this, couldnt find it) Around 100 entries in it, usually fair ok in it, but never come away with the prize!
No better place than asking some of you guys, who analysis, judgement, experience and top tiping in the past is top notch stuff!
With the competition starting on the open meeting this Friday at Cheltenham, any suggestions on who the dead certs are to include? (Bankers)
I dont usually use the tactic of looking at horses that will run more than others, but is there a particular age or horse who will run an extra race or 2 as prep for the festival in March?
Should add, there are bonus pts for Cheltenham festival winners, king george, irish gold cup, irish champion hurdle, aintree hurdle and national.
Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated!!
(Admin feel free to move as you see fit)
