    • At what point, do people crabbing Pentland Hills (of which I have very much been one) have to stop thinking about what a horror price he's been all year and start thinking about his actual chance compared to the price he is now?

Let's say BDD and Honey do go for the Mares, we're left with Epatante who has the best form, then a whole bunch of horses that nobody can really make a ...

Do you know what... just opened up oddschecker to check the other prices and Pentland Hills is a best priced 5/1 across the board.

Not going to waste my time.

I do not care if he wins at 5/1, that would be a stupid bet

      • I see Thomas Darby is a sea of blue today..... he would SO easily have bolted up in the Coral Cup. That's definitely my best tip this year

That's the exact stance I have taken, lol.

I've got several runners/non-runners and will just take whatever comes.

What piece of form is it that Epatante has that’s better than everything else ?
Beating Silver Streak and Verdana Blue in a soft ground Christmas Hurdle can’t be it, and her previous visit to Cheltenham was a horror show.
We know this is turning into a very poor renewal but I’m of the view she was flattered by that performance and there has to be an alternative that succeeds...

It's the best piece of form of any horse still in it this season I'd say.

The only other option is Honeysuckle, via Petit Mouchoir I'd say Epatante's win is the best 2mile piece of form so far.

It's not a long way clear, but I don't think I'm wide of the mark....

Both pieces of form are rubbish really, but then you're comparing it to runs where Ballyandy is involved and he was only 4th in the Coral Cup, so I'm ruling all those close to him out...

              • To be honest the only horse I've been backing for the champion hurdle since Saldier was taken out is Darver Star. Looked at all the runners and only came down to this horse being my fancy. Also I've looked at the finishing time which the Irish champion hurdle was and it was actually faster than the previous 2 years of it. It could be irrelevant but it even surprised me more because Darver Star was running on strongly to even win it from so far behind near the end of the race. I honestly think hes so overpriced for this race 20/1 just looks a steal once there's gonna be non runners in the coming weeks once the field is official.

Is he definitely a horse who won't be bigger than 20/1 now?

Have they said this is the target? I haven't actually seen any quotes for him.

I think it's the best form ,and she has the x factor when compared to the rest.

The rest we already know about or have to make far too many excuses about.

Then you factor in the course at Cheltenham and how bad she was last year.
And that the Christmas hurdle is very like the King George and can suit types that are not then suited to Cheltenham and you start doubting her as well.

It's not a fun race this year.

                    • Sharjah has better form in the book albeit a while back, I have some 33/1 vouchers and will consider pressing if he is double digits on the day.
A good case was made for Supasundae recently and although his best form is over further he isn’t slow and took advantage of the Samcro/Melon pile up over 2m so could be competitive here.

It’s a mess really, but I’d much prefer Sharjah at 14/1 than Epitante at 3/1...

From what I can see I think 20/1 the best you can get I think, unless it might drift if anything does change in the next coming weeks. Also the trainer has said previously the horse is aimed for the champion hurdle.

“He’s come out of the race well,” said Cromwell.

“We were delighted with the run. It was a good solid performance.

“He stayed on really well – so please God, we’ll go forward. He’s in the Champion Hurdle, and if all remains well he can hopefully go there.”

20/1 NRNB skybet is the best to do just incase. If it doesn't run which I'd be surprised about then at least your not losing anything.

Only live ticket I have now is Sharjah e/w at 25s after Saldier one went up in smoke. Leaving it at that I think. If the ground’s anywhere near Good & Claisse doesn’t water too much beforehand/we don’t get rain then he’s got a live chance.

What price would make him a good bet Kev? If he’d have seen it through last time, I reckon he’d be clear fav now. He certainly quickened like a CHurdle horse and you can’t say that about much else in the field as we know it. The (more than likely) better ground will suit and he is definitely improving run to run. I don’t like the price either but think he is a big player in this.

                              Yes so would I.

If we go back further than this season, Epatante definitely doesn't have the best form.

I'd just say this year she probably does, but that doesn't set the bar high.

Well, as I started I was hoping he was still 8/1 and I was going to try and convince myself that might be a good bet.

                                As he's 5/1 I couldn't be arsed.

                                So 8/1, perhaps?

I agree with what you're saying...

I reckon double figures now I'd probably chance him. Probably.
I don't think I'd want to, but I reckon I could talk myself into it.
