Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I seem to remember last year they went the 4 Championship races first for a few weeks, then gradually the rest.

After the kicking my a/p book has taken this week, I'm loathe to put on any more bets until they do.
I just asked Skybet and Bet365 on the live chat..... 365 kept the cards very close to the chest and said it is too early to say, and promotional material would appear if they decided to do it before the final declaration stage

Skybet said the same... "not until the week before unfortunately"

    • Thanks Kev.

That sounds like a change in philosophy? Must still be smarting from last year?

      • The cross country is a level weights race now Kevloaf.

Auvergnat is a massive runner but he missed the Cheltenham engagement in Dec having run Cantlow to 5l on banks debut, at just 6 and given usual improvement he will be a big banks runner for years to come, whether he's ready for March I don't know but definitely one for the future

Yes that's right, I think the article was saying don't worry that it is now level weights if you liked a top weight because the weights don't matter as much.

          • The NRNB discussion, I seem to remember bookies taking some stick over that offer because (as you'd expect) they have to cover all options especially with the Mullins army, so if they were quoting the CH market with the NRNB concessions they would probably have 3 odds on shots in the race, and if they threw in Altior or Min what price would they be (with the NRNB ?)
The market becomes uncompetitive and no-one bets.
A few purists I remember said they should be quoting under normal Ante Post terms...

            • Maybe worth noting the age of all the horses in the cross county discussion I think only 1 horse over the age of 10 has won it in the last 10 years and that was new story in an average race. Bless the wings, quantativesing, cantlow, any currency, rivage d'or, sire collages all knocking on in age..

              • Go back a little further though and you find the likes of Heads of the Ground, Garde Champetre, L'Ami, Spot the Difference, all beasts at this code well into their older years.
I think there are only 2 races that can be won by a horse aged 11 or older, this race and the foxhunters....

                • Any Currency won last year too (although later DQ).

                  • Anyone have any idea about any currency is he still racing or been retired?

                    • Any Curreny runs tomorrow in a decent race at Cheltenham

                          Vroum Vroum Mag's - Target....

                          • Another gimmick market from gobby in my opinion.
How easy is this for connections to manipulate ? though anyone getting more than 20 quid on will be shut down.
I'm guessing that PP has very strong information to run this market and it has the potential for the easiest 'fix' in history, if authorities have the will then PP leave themselves wide open to massive investigation/interrogation, which knowing some of there past activities is not something they'll want

Agreed Isty, Betbright must have made fortunes last year with the Ricci connection, insider knowledge is becoming a real threat to ante post betting, always been there of course but owners going into bookmaking moves it up several notches

                              • I bought the racing post this morning and most of the big bookies listed their specials for 2017.

Paddy power are 11/10 for WPM to have over 5.5 Cheltenham winners. William Hill are 13/8 for him to have 6 or less. A no lose bet and if he has 6 winners exactly you'll win with both bets. I managed to get a good few quid on. The only problem is it ties up your money for 3 months.
