Cheltenham November Meeting

Early going news & non-runners on day one of The November Meeting


The going for day one of The November Meeting, Friday, 13 November, is:
Chase and Hurdle Courses: Good to Soft, Good in places (GoingStick 6.3)
Cross Country Course: Good, Good to Soft in places (GoingStick 6.7)

Simon Claisse, Clerk of the Course at Cheltenham, said: “Day one of The November Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse began with an early walk at 6.00am to reassess ground conditions after a dry night.
“The going on the Chase and Hurdle Courses is Good to Soft, Good in places and on the Cross Country Course it is Good, Good to Soft in places. 
“Depending on how much rain we get, ground conditions may ease before racing starts at 1.15pm.
“Races two to five are all broadcast live on ITV4 and you can watch everything on Racing TV. You can catch up with all today’s latest news on the Cheltenham hub on our website.
“We look forward to a fantastic afternoon’s racing. The feature is the mouth-watering clash in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase between Tiger Roll and Easysland.”

Rail Movements The hurdle course has been realigned in the home straight away from the stands’ side rail between the bend and the last hurdle to avoid an area of false ground.
Hurdle bends are dolled out 9 yards (except the home turn at 2 yards), adding 44 yards per circuit for races over 2m and 3m, and 72 yards for races over 2 ½m.
All chase are bends dolled out 7 yards, adding 44 yards per circuit for races over 2m and 3m, and 66 yards for races over 2 ½m.
Distances altered as follows: Race 1 plus 72 yards Race 2 plus 44 yards Race 3 plus 66 yards Race 4 as advertised Race 5 plus 72 yards Race 6 plus 44 yards

Weather It was dry overnight, a spell of rain is forecast through the morning (up to 3mm), followed by a dry afternoon with temperatures of 12 degrees Celsius.
