2026 Novice Chasers

Whilst KDB hardened as fav for the Arkle yesterday with lots of blue on Oddscheker, there was also lots of blue on him for the BANC…..best price now 33/1 with the main bookmakers

No form over further than 2m, so not sure why the movement?……maybe people just hedging a small part of their Arkle position in case plans change?

….ATR Stable Tour;
‘He’s going novice chasing. He is every inch a chaser and I’m really looking forward to seeing him race over a fence. He’s a very keen horse and I think fences will help him settle. He could be careless at his hurdles last season, but he should respect fences more and I think he’ll be well suited by them. He looks one for the Arkle’

….SL Stable Tour;
‘When he won the Michael O’Sullivan Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham it was a very poignant moment, but it was also a fantastic performance from the horse. What I loved was the way he handled Cheltenham. I’m thinking of going down the novice chase route, he’s a fine, big chasing type. People are asking me ‘are you not going down the Champion Hurdle route’ and if things don’t work out over fences maybe we could think about that But just to look at him he looks like a novice chaser, and you’d have to think the Arkle would be the route for him. We’ll start him out over fences and I’m not too worried about the trip the first day but as he hopefully progresses up the ladder then we’ll come back to two miles. To me that will be his trip down the line. He’s an amazing horse; he just has such huge raw ability. Do we know really how much is there? I know he fluffed his lines a bit at Punchestown at the end of the season, but I’ll forgive any horse that.’

Most likely just hedging. However , it's going to very testing ground at the weekend so if he wins and isn't stopping then he'd have the option of stepping up if he has others he feels are more suited to the Arkle. Likewise, if Final Demand finds it tough going over 2 1/2 over fences then he might have to drop back.

It's going to be a very informative weekend as lots of horses at the front end of lists are running and I sense the markets are going to blow !

Let the games begin!!!!

Final Demand 33/1 Arkle with KDB 33/1 BANC related double………

Really looking forward to seeing Kopek this weekend and hope he jumps as well as has been quoted! Below from today's RP.

Charles McCarthy owns Kopek Des Bordes with his four sons under the name of Monabeg Investments Limited and was delighted to see their star coping with fences in a schooling video at Closutton.

He said: "He was jumping like a stag, gaining lengths at every fence. Willie is over the moon with him and he's entered at Navan on Saturday.

Also can't wait to see Final Demand. Would love to see both win impressively...but which one will be facing Brighterdaysahead who will likely strip fitter as Gordon normally has his ahead of Willie's at this time of year?
Jumping Like A Stag ...!!!!... o.m.g !. 😁😁.

The McCarthy interview before the Supreme last year was one of the best I'd seen. I was willing the horse on so much to win. I had double the winnings on William Munny but I don't think I'd ever wanted another horse win so much.

Derryhassen Paddy just a big ol lump, isn't he.

Looked cumbersome over hurdles, at stages, not much different over fences, I'd say.

Definitely would have needed the run, looking at him though.

Looked as though he needed the run more than the other two but his jumping is surely a concern albeit that it’s early days.

Needs all of 3m now as well. Think they knew that but a good starting point . A long time til March.

Ah yeah, I'm not cashing him out. In fact, the 25's, I may go in again.

The yard have a history of bringing them on for their first run of the season, I see no reason why it wouldn't be the same with this lad.

Just hope they school him a little more for next time :ROFLMAO:

Might be the worst novice chase I’ve ever watched :ROFLMAO: I get they’re novices but jeezo. Dereyhassen looked as though he’d never seen a fence in his life before. The other 2 made plenty of mistakes as well.

I can’t see the banc suiting derryhassen paddy, I’d be more interested in him for the national hunt chase. Think he’s a slow old boat

Jumped like a horse whos no interest in being a horse, first run will help for next time,I'd be slapping some big old pieces on him and going up to 3m,might even just send him on,make his mind up early doors.
Long road ahead but as Kauto said above,just looks a slob of a thing,3m+ might still not be enough of a test for him, you can be forgiven a laboured effort first time up,if it happens next time he'll be struck off.

Do we see a similar performance from Final Demand this weekend?
