2026 Champion Hurdle

I don't understand the clamour about Lossiemouth switching when they have Anzadam in the same stable and owned by the same people. Anzadam RPR 159 after two runs at 2 miles and aged 5. Huge potential for improvement. Lossiemouth best RPR over 2 miles is 152 when she was beaten by Constitution Hill. She is so much better over 2.5 miles. A number of horses are better than Lossiemouth over 2 miles. Zero Mares better than Lossiemouth over 2.5 miles. Anzadam Champion Hurdle. Lossiemouth Mares Hurdle. No drama. Simples. Am I wrong ?
But you are thinking from the thoughts of Mullins....what about ricci the owner, I'm sure he would want to have a chance in the champion hurdle. The owners pay the bills

I hear you but Ricci hasn't been too keen to take/have a chance in the Champion Hurdle for the last two years. Me thinks he knows she can win the Mares. But he is far from convinced she can win the Champion Hurdle. Just my view.

Looking forward to this weekend. Getting started and might see a couple of festival winners🤞
How many winners from Friday to Sunday do you reckon will go on to win at the Fez ?

How many from the same meetings last year ?..............

A Big Fat Zero !

State Man had credit with Willie/Townend given his multiple grade 1 wins. Willie has always shown loyalty and given respect to horses that have been there and done it for him time after time.
Lossiemouth had to play second fiddle last season as results and circumstances dictated.
Lossiemouth is now Top dog though IMO (in Willies yard as an open hurdler)

The only issue is that she is more likely to start in the Hattons Grace.
Allowing something else to make a case in the Morgiana.
A lot of stuff to happen yet.

But Lossie is No1 right now for sure as she's earned her place.
Anzadam, Irancy and any that stay hurdling after having been previously pencilled in for a novice chase season have to prove themselves first.
And IMO Lossie will get the chance to face off with the one that sticks it's hand up at some stage.

I would add, that there is still a chance that Lossie goes Mares even if she looks Willies best bet for the Champion, it'll just depend on how good a chance they think the next best they have has, and how Willie and Paul decide to play it with the owners.
Unfotunately the powers that be have left her the option by not making any changes, so we may have a situation where the best 2 miler in Ireland goes for the Mares hurdle. We shall see, loads more bollocks to happen yet.

And if Kawaboomga gets back on track in time to have a prep run before March then he whips them all anyway IMO.👊

True. She has to really prove herself at 2 against the best around which she hasn't done yet. Will Willie just throw her into a Morgianna or FF to find out early doors or just stick to plan A and see what the likes of Anzadam and Irancy can do .

To be honest, all this talk about lossie in champion hurdle.....I don't think she is good enough to win anyway

Time for a mid November yankee
I forgot Brighterdaysahead and Dinoblue. They need to get beat as well.

Just looked up corresponding meetings from 2023 as well (Cheltenham and Navan)

Just the one winner, Stage Star, went on to win at Fez.

Bit of a trend here !!

I know he has zero sway with what happens with Willies horses but Tony Mullins replied to someone saying "I would say that is now pretty obvious" when questioned about Lossiemouth going to the Champion Hurdle.
