World Hurdle Thread 2015

Thanks for the heads up KSS.

This has helped my anti-post WH bets. :)

Saphir Du Rheu looks to have a belting chance of continuing the Stewart's excellent record in the race. Pedigree suggests he will be better on good ground as well.

ok. Glens Melody would have won it last year only for quevega. Decent animal still to target the mares

im hoping annie stays in the mares as I have her in some antepost doubles but team mullins must be tempted

I think OV has posted on the scratched horses thread that Morning run is out of the mares

Thanks. I missed that one on the scratched horses thread. I think keeping that thread updated with scratched horses will help with the run up to the Fest.

BOMBSHELL - More of that out of the festival after bursting blood vessel on the gallops this morning!

Wonder if team Mullins would be tempted to send Annie Power here considering they have Glens Melody and Morning Run for the mares (granted neither are Ricci horses).

Got to be tempted to aim Annie here now.

Was there a smidgen of hope in the announcement ?

More Of That galloped at Compton this morning with AP [McCoy] in the saddle and pleased everyone with his work.

"But when he returned to the yard he was found to have bled and as things stand I would have to say that he is now an unlikely runner at Cheltenham as time is not on our side."

Binocular and Kicking King type recovery possible ?

MOT only out to 30/40 on Betfair so still may have a squeak of making it. Either that are people are cynical :p

Hard to fancy off that kind of prep though.

Staying Hurdlers never were my cup of tea but this years bunch seems very weak.

And

@Emmet_Kennedy: "Annie Power doing everything we've asked her, she's 100%" - Willie Mullins on @AtTheRaces @FinalFurlongPod

I'm going to stick my neck out and say AP will run in the mares hurdle. To come back after an injury first time out in a World Hurdle may cause more of a hard race that could set her back once again. With the Mares race upgraded this year it would seem wiser to me to keep her to her own sex at her best distance against lesser opponents. If she was to run in the World Hurdle I think she is a must lay bet.

Its one heck of an open race this year. So many horses on the up and so many improvers that are unknown over 3m at Chelts.

AP found nothing going up the hill last year when 100% fit, just can't see her staying with the fittest.

I've backed Monksland for this, touted in 2013, two decent runs on its comeback all beit on ground quite heavier than normally expected, good run a few years ago behind Simonsig on good ground at the fest, hoping for good to soft this time and hopeful of a place at least

I was actually tempted to push the button after his first run back from such a long lay off. His next was also pretty decent, though I thought he should have come on a bit more from the first run.

See your point LR, but I think NM will have left a bit to work on, I also think that ground just caught him out a bit, PC is the king of cool on horses ( except when he got beat on Harchibald but that's another story) and I expect him to be delivered later than his last race and put up a bold show

I've backed Lieutenant Colonel for this at a fancy price but I quite like the look of Rock on Ruby, nobody seems to want him but I have him in a multi-bet, originally looking for the place angle but the more I look at the race the more I think he has a decent shout.

I have backed him too MMG. Used to be a stat about champion hurdle horses not winning but Solwhit :( and celestial Halo have done plenty to change that perception.

A friend of mine mentioned that it might be worth throwing a speculative few quid on RoR for the WH, based on Harry Fry saying they wouldn't be running in the Champion.

He did warn me that it was as likely not to run, as it was to turn up, though.

I had a free tenner to use, so chucked it on, and it looks like I'll at least get a run with it, which is nice.

I suppose they could wait for aintree with ROR but WorldHurdle looks easier if anything !

It definitely does now, with MoT an unlikely runner, and I can't see them chancing Annie Power after such a long layoff.

Or rather, I hope they don't :)

I also backed LC too early, ended up backing a couple others recently. UTPT and Blue Fashion at 20's nrnb. I actually have no clue on this race. Will probably end up backing them all. LOL
