World Hurdle Thread 2015

25/1 is a massive price. This fella has been up there with the 2 favourites in this race and 4x the price.
Agreed about RDS, the field doesn't look to have a standout prospect, especially if you think in terms of place accas, a 25/1 3rd gives your roll up a hell of a boost

Blue Fashion

He’s got some very solid form and if you go back to the beginning of last season when he got beaten by More Of That, not very far, giving More Of That 5lb at Haydock, that’s how good he is. He comes in here, he’s going to have a gallop at Kempton and he’s in good form. We always planned to take him there [to the World Hurdle] fresh as he’s been very good fresh in the past.

Whisper

Whisper works at Kempton this week and all being well he’ll then go for the World Hurdle where I hope he’ll be competitive. He had a tough time last back-end from the Welsh Champion Hurdle to the Coral Cup to Aintree where he put in a seriously good performance. He had to go somewhere but I wasn’t mad about him going to Exeter, where he jumped only all right. But there was no point in him carrying on with novice chasing after that. I think he’s on the way back but we’ll see.

Looks like Blue Fashion is his horse then. I always had my suspecion over him and how well he ran behind Faugheen over a shorter trip.

Nicky Henderson: Ben Linfoot's view

The dark horse

Blue Fashion. Without a doubt. I had to rack my brains to think who this horse actually was when Henderson started talking about him in glowing terms for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, for which he’s a 16/1 chance with Sky Bet (non-runner, no bet). He’s the horse that chased home Faugheen at Ascot. He’s the horse that chased home More Of That, giving him 6lb, the previous season at Haydock. He’s the horse that is related to stayers. He’s the horse that’s massively unexposed. He’s the horse that goes well fresh. He’s the World Hurdle dark horse.

Think I'm gonna need a lot more accas to cover all these outsiders with good chances,

Hahaha, tell me about it MG. I quoted him in this thread a few pages back and backed him well at 20's and in a Lucky. At 16's I might have to create another acca with him in it aswell. :encouragement:

It will be interesting to see who Barry chooses to ride between Whisper and Blue Fashion.

Whisper has proven Cheltenham form, will relish some good ground and he was seriously impressive last spring. It's a shame he hasn't had a better build up to such a wide open world hurdle. I've been watching his price and he hasn't shifted from 14/1 since being added to the world hurdle market despite no one really talking him up.

I smell a plot...

Maybe if we back all Hendo's unfancied horses we will be on top because they are all full of s***.;)

Take the quote on Josses Hill for example. Why can't they just tell the truth on form?

Totally agree LR!

He's clearly far from at natural at his fences yet what was the line today…'the faster they go the better he'll be at his fences' or something along those lines.

More chance of finding rocking horse s**t

Meanwhile Paul Nicholls throws a curved ball to Noel Fehily

@BetfairRacing: . @footyformation "Who will ride Zarkandar in the World Hurdle?" Noel Fehily rides for the owners so I would imagine he will be riding.

Who rides Ruby then?!

I would be surprised if Noel rides Zarkandar, but it must be something they've discussed, I've backed ROR for this partly on the basis that he will be riding, I still think he'll be in the three but he has a good chance of finishing in front I think, Noel will be gutted if he is sequestered away then has to suffer whilst ROR's jockey goes up for the trophy.
I had assumed Nick Schofield would be on Zarkandar.
Just for info, ROR was going to be my day three yankee choice

AP free ?

O'Neill said on Tuesday morning: "More Of That unfortunately will not be going to Cheltenham in a couple of weeks as I am still not 100 per cent happy with him at home.

"We had hoped that we were getting there as he had regained a bit of his old sparkle last week but following another routine piece of work he was a bit flat and we have lost the race against time.

"More Of That is far too good a horse to risk unless he is spot-on so he will not run again this season. He will have a long break over the spring and summer and be back racing in the autumn."

Seagull doesnt like Zarkandar..stopped short of hoof though ;)

I
just think that Zarkandar is a funny horse and should have won a lot more races than he has and I'm not totally convinced by him.

I mentioned AP for the Zarkandar ride the other day, I hope they go that route, ROR needs a little more finess than AP usually delivers and Zarkandar would benefit from the aggressive tacticts that is AP's hallmark

More quotes

Nicholls said: ‘I would expect Noel will ride Zarkandar because the owners retain him. The lads are sorting it out. I think Sam has chosen to ride Saphir Du Rheu because he thinks he can win a Gold Cup on him in the future but it was a close call.
‘He won the Cleeve Hurdle and stayed on really strongly up the hill and his jumping was very sharp. There is a lot of improvement in him.’

Fry responded by saying: ‘Plans are fluid at the moment. Nothing is decided.’

I think your on the right lines here. Whichever Fehily rides AP will be on the other one.

Don't know if anyone saw it earlier today but Barry G put up a little Whisper quote on his ATR blog earlier today after sitting on a few of Nicky's yesterday:

WHISPER also feels like he’s set for a good spring. Having failed to take to fences he’s showing plenty of sparkle now and goes for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle. With More Of That out of the race it has a wide open look about it and the form of his Grade 1 win at Aintree last year is there for all to see.

I'm still in love with the horse after his Coral Cup exploits last year and so have dutifully backed him for this open looking world hurdle now. Plus the kind people at Ladbrokes pushed him out to 16/1 as other firms shortened him to 12...don't mind if I do
