FM would Franco de Port fit this criteria in your opinion, as an example?

If he goes for the Arkle, which I accept isn't a certainty - trainer has Energumene in the race, FDP has generally been ridden with restraint in his previous 2 chase starts and finished his races strongly.

My thinking is that he'll be held up that way again to ensure he doesn't interfere with Energumene at the front end, rather than that being necessarily the best way to ride him to win?

He would but as you say, there is the potential that he goes Marsh.

I'm actually considering Eldorado Allen - he wouldn't have the class to win the race but if does fall apart he could run past beaten horses. No idea if the Arkle if the plan for him though.
