Win Today & Festival ‘27

Even less with a bumper performance like that

Was very keen on him his expected novice year, but horses don’t miss that long and come back. Sure connections are happy just to have him

Am still in two minds whether to take the 33/1 Lulamba Champion Chase.

Almost hoping he looks like he doesn't see out the extra half mile.....

Big run from Winston is expected - yard are very bullish
Not surprised. Ran a huge race at the Festival. Just beaten by a much better handicapped horse on the day

It was the one ride that Jack Kennedy said he'd want back from the festival. Felt he should have won

Yepp they thought he should have definitely won that race, and after seeing how well Lord Byron went in the Triumph also...

Winston has got quite a bit of ground to make up on minella study from earlier in the season.

Was the most eye-catching jockey booking of the whole week as well. All our group were on him on the day as one of them is nicknamed Winston. Shame he couldn't quite get there.

When has the Fred Winter ever been form to follow, especially then in graded company? You have exceptions, such as Gaelic Warrior the following season and Jeff Kidder backed up his win. But in general horses struggle in the short term. If you were to take RPR's as a guide then they would have had Winston Junior coming 8th. Fair enough if you have a decent price, but 5/1 doesn't look a steal to me.

Murcia last year in this very race?

Depends what people feel the Triumph form that is on show is worth

Winston Jr is in a different league to Lord Byron on the gallops at home and he was only beaten 3 1/2L in the Triumph.

Obviously homework - on the track blah di blah

**fwiw, I wouldnt bother backing him now at the price he is, think its an ultra competitive race at the head of the market without a real standout. I do have a feeling neither Minella study or Maestro Conti will win though, duno why, just don't think they'll do it. For all I'm a big fan of Selma de Vary, even though she was squeezed up for room, she didn't rattle home up the hill, although raced very exuberantly and out wide the whole way, so would definitely enhance her claims if she can settle. Mange Tout will go close as a fresh horse going into the race

Murcia was 8th in the Fred Winter. She clearly never ran her race. I'm referring more to those who went close/ran their race. Bit of a strange race last year as well the 2nd and 3rd haven't been seen over hurdles since! The Aintree race last year only had Willy De Houelle and Gibbs Island who were 11th and pulled up as the sole Triumph reps. This year we have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

From memory quite a few from the Fred winter go for the Aintree grade 1. Sure JP has had a couple win it after running in the Fred winter or go off fav after winning the Fred winter, something like that :ROFLMAO:

Think Saratoga was value for a fair bit more personally. Walsh put the whip down not long after the last

Watched the race back again tonight and fully agree. He won oh so easy. Hardly touched him. Even withstanding the 2nds somewhat unlucky passage, he wouldn't have beaten Saratoga.
