‘Win Today & Cheltenham 2023’

Fucking hell!!!

That is since that superstar won today though

That was kinda my first thought.
I loved opatcho's saphir du rheu revelation last night.

So nicholl's has sent 2 to the cleeve midway through a chase campaign (are there more, that maybe weren't successful?) , they both won.
One then won the stayers, one finished 2nd.

Add Ptit Zigg

UR at Kempton (fell on a chase before that)… then
finished second in Cleeve hurdle - behind Thistlecrack!!!!.

Didn’t go Cheltenham (who would after being battered by thistlecrack) but won in a listed hurdle at Sandown next time out and then ran 3 times in France (hurdles), placed twice and one

… are we on to somewhere here :cat:

I hadn't even properly looked when i had initially bet him, but they are cracking examples you've uncovered.
The fact nicholls even initially entered him in the stayers was enough to get me looking.

It's important to remember Gelino bello is an individual though, however i've certainly seen enough in his runs at cheltenham and over 3 miles to suggest he is another who nicholls has seen an opportunity with to go back hurdling.

He has one horse to beat this Saturday, Paisley Park. As mentioned above, no brainer. Wins and he goes into 10/1 or shorter - and that’s with the likes of Blazing and a few questionables heading the market still

could be 4/1 on the day after final dec’s

Just need to remind myself “he needs to win first” lol

Jupiter and TH 25/1 is very nice for those not on him yet. Think he'll go off a good fav on Saturday and prove himself the best of British.

Gelino has finished a good second to B Khal on two occasions at Cheltenham (once over 3m) and BK has been well supported all season despite not yet running. GB's best performance was over an extended 3 at Aintree where he really ran through the line suggesting staying is definitely his game.

One horse ?
botox no mug, I can appreciate the odds on offer for said horse with that bet but he’s never run above 150. Market loves potential can’t believe his price Sat vs a couple.

I'll be doing the gelino bello bet for saturday.
But only cos I'll be max betting Paisley Park.

The race looks perfect for him with dashel drasher setting the gallop.
He's picked up far better horses than that, and shouldn't get too far behind going down the hill.

Gelino Bello is the one unknown quantity.

But the likelihood is the form of him and Blazing Khal is on balance likely to be more on the shit side than good.
Can't be certain obviously but it's more likely.

It's a big jump from mid 140's to high 160's.
For one horse never mind two.

I confess to doing a few of the x country ones ...mainly coz I cant be arsed to study the race and because it would mean they have beaten the current favourite so anything could happen to their price....I have chosen RM,SL and FJ as they are higher in the weights (therefore slightly less inconvenienced when it becomes a level weight race) and reasonably towards the front of the market and less tried and rested over the course therefore less exposed. It’s shit gambling I know but if one them lands I’ve got a big return x country runner :welcoming:

ive got absolutely no intention of backing the favourite so it’s one of these or watch on the day with little or no financial interest.

Apologies I also did easysland at 300 as I think he finally showed a bit more lto.

So 3.5 points invested and its shit or bust

Typing this post is already as much time as I usually spend on the race in case folks are dying to tell me I’d be better off doing separate singles. I’m sure you are right but I guarantee I would find better things to do with the money :welcoming:

I wondered about Easyland for Saturday myself. He's gone from being fav for the festival and second to Tiger Roll to being bottom weight here! Not sure I can see him doing the double given the weight swing but did wonder if he was capable of being competitive again at the weekend. But I guess at 300/1 I can't knock it either!

I was thinking about him too.

I'm definitely going to back him for the weekends race anyway :encouragement:

I will be.

Not the special as he's not capable of 150+ anymore.IMO,
For the specials you'd be hoping a big Elliot runner don't appear at the festival or doesn't get round.
But i did do the Snow Leopard one on that basis.
minimal stakes.

I have Botox in my tracker. Had a light bulb moment last night “did Gary Moore do a EdG (when dads lad won the race) with Botox in the Relkeel… run him quietly as a prep for a big race like the cleeve”.
I got a little exciting thinking I found a edge, logged into my laptop and started to watch the race again.

Botox was running with some enthusiasm, jumped forward. Looked well. Travelled well for 60% of the race and then…. it looked like someone jumped 24lbs onto his back. He fell threw the back without seconds. It’s not like they sprinted and left him dead. “… did he swallow his tongue or something”… was my initial thought… I’ve look to see he they applied a tongue tie - no, I then went back to his run at haydock and they went at a dog slow pace… and with the claimer onboard I question whether he’s hit a ceiling.

I spend some time last night trying to make a case for Botox, and I can’t, and this is a horse that’s in my tracker, a horse I know like Cheltenham. I just think he’s hit his ceiling - young horse, but has 16 hurdles to his name.

Agree it’s a stretch to see it happen in March but like you say 300 ...and the trainer is nothing if not unpredictable :biggrin-new:

If Delta was to win Saturday what price would he go ??!! 1/2 ??
