Ultima Handicap Chase 2019

Very unfair and a terribly sad hurtful standpoint.

If you owned a horse, or many as they have done, that suffer terrible injury in front of you it leaves a mark. Racing should be fun but sometimes it isn't any fun at all. I've had it a few times, its very upsetting. Maybe they just thought Cheltenham wasn't very lucky but have been reassured & time healed a wound.

I think I'll find myself a safe space with all the other snowflakes. Sigh.

Danced on stage with The Farm, Happy Mondays and Black Grape in that place.
Good old days.
Also got temporarily blinded with a champagne cork, then chased a naked fella who'd been playing the bagpipes who'd grabbed the bottle off me and ran.
That's how to bring the millenium in.

Q - if that is your scene fella get yourself down to Cool Britannia down in Knebworth later in the year. Black Grape and The Farm are both on as well as James, Embrace amongst others. Went last year it was brilliant.

Great story btw haha.

I've pretty much hung the maraca's up these days, but every now and then :very_drunk:

Am keen on Belami Des Pictons

Is ready to go I'm told for Venetia Williams, but needs the rain

Have taken the 33-1 each way with Bet 365 who go BOG & Non Runner No Bet

Was going to say, who gives a shite, but there timing is dreadful, make a point and then back down a few weeks before the main event. Good luck to their horses anyway, maybe not them, but maybe I am being a bit bitter...

With TALKISCHEAP running at Kempton tomorrow, where does that leave him regarding this race? thoughts?

They were saying on the matchbook podcast his mark will be reassessed after this

He can't be winning tomorrow then winning the Ultima can he...

I'm tempted to cash out, it just doesn't seem like it's on King's radar at all - which is so strange.

I cashed 35s King did say Kempton then Aintree or Ayr. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt me like Ballyward 33s.

I caught the end of the Friday club earlier and Tom Stanley put Discorama up for this. Basically he thinks Paul Nolan is keen to run him in a handicap, as he's already mentioned his Irish rating of 145 with an eye on the Close Brothers.

He surely doesn't race in Britain off 145 but he'd have a nice weight in the Ultima if he was rated 148/149. The 20/1 with Bet365 looks too big and in all likelihood, he would be single figures in the Ultima if he ran.

Correct.

Added.

I've backed NRNB for the Close Brothers and have 33s for the 4 miler so would be livid if I had't backed him and he ran here

I’ve got Discorama in 2 x Lucky 31’s for the NH 4 miler. Which way do you anticipate him going??

I think they'd go for the graded race but a lenient handicap mark would give them a decision to make.

The 20/1 nrnb would be good insurance for you TKP

Yeah it would make sense to cover it at those odds. I do wish these trainers & owners would make their minds up with a fortnight to go to make our lives a bit easier!!;)

I've backed Discorama NRNB for every entry it has - it's just a horse that caught my eye and I want to be on the right side of wherever it runs to avoid kicking myself afterwards. It's only tying up the money for a couple of weeks - and I might need the NR refunds :)

Others that I've done the same thing for:
Dinons
Pravalaguna
Drovers Lane
Melon

For Downtown Getaway and Gun Digger I have 'win any race' bets

Bits of blue for Minella Rocco with NRNB firms...

Shown absolutely no form since 2nd in Sizing John's Gold Cup (2017)

Jonjo and Richie McLernon have teamed up with Holywell to win the Ultima before...

33/1 without NRNB is a standout price....

On the 1 hand, he's won the 4 miler and 2nd in a Gold Cup

On the other, he's just rubbish?

Would do him no harm tobounce back to form after the Grand National weights are out though?

I'm really tempted to have a flyer at 33/1 - despite his weakening effort in the Pertemps qualifier today, that he had no interest in winning?

I’ve had my fingers burnt netting Minella Rocco too many times too put up with the pain again even at 33/1

Haha, I am sure many have given up on him.

I've avoided him for a while but the entry has tweaked my interest.

He can't win a Gold Cup, but you don't beat Native River over 4 miles if you're not a good animal

Being top weioght wouldn't matter too much either.

I don't like Jonjo at all.

Someone stop me :highly_amused:

Discorarma would be taken off his feet in the Close Brothers.
