Triumph Hurdle 2018

Any ideaa who ruby sides with? Doesnt seem to be a huge amount of confidence in stormy ireland or mr adjudicator so maybe saldier, impressive in only run for them so far and about 25lb better than mr adj on the flat

Ruby was keen on Stormy Ireland last night.

I see cheveley park bought redicean back the other day, looks like there getting serious about investing in the end market of NHR..Got one with Willie for next year too..Must be a confident pointer for the triumph though.

Indeed. See they purchased Envoi Allen from Colin Bowe who looked a superstar in his P2P.

Was he the 400k+ one?

The Racing Post bloodstock podcast mentions a few of them... with Tom Malone. Was an entertaining and interesting listen IMHO

The third coming, envoi Allen..Don't know how much that 400k was spent on the back of what's happened with Samcro though.

Yeh that’s him. There’s a video on YouTube of his point win where he does look pretty special. Agree re: the podcast, a very informative listen.

Is it worth listening to? I've listened to a couple of bloodstock podcasts in the past and it was like pulling teeth.

Yes, very different format to the others (notably the Derby/Oaks ones)...

I know a lot of people do not rate the horse and speed of races/ opponents faced throughout the year haven’t been great but I do really like Apple Shakira. My thoughts might be based by my winning on defi last year but wins at Cheltenham already may prove she is used to the Hill (I hope she is) and getting the 7lbs will be a big factor. Maybe it’s the pre Cheltenham drinks talking tonight but it will be a good week if she bolts up

There was a stat on a podcast today (Only Balls and Horses maybe)?

The top 5 in the market for the Triumph have all only been to one track each... (I actually make it 6 before We have a Dream)

Apple's Shakira - Cheltenham (3 runs)
Redicean - Kempton (3 runs)
Farclas - Leopardstown (2 runs)
Mr Adjudicator - Leopardstown (2 runs)
Stormy Ireland - Fairyhourse (1 run)
Saldier - Gowran (1 run)

We Have A Dream - Warwick, Doncaster, Sandown, Chepstow, Musselburgh (5 runs, 5 tracks)

...... not looked at previous years, but the two positives I'd take would be the Henderson pair..... Apple's has the Cheltenham form in the book.... and We Have A Dream has proven he's quite versitile and able to travel?

It isn't going to affect my bets at all, but was mildly interesting I thought

I like her as well TC, but I read a stat on Narrowing the Field that has me a little worried:
“Only 1 of 37 females who have attempted it have won the Triumph”

Let’s hope she’s a trend buster!

That is a bit strange. I’d rather have the experience at Cheltenham though than for example Kempton.

Totally agree with that, course experience is a positive, course experience plus course form is a MASSIVE positive. Lots of horses love it here, lots don't despite how good they are elsewhere.

Im finding Apples Shakira quite easy to oppose. Would be noway near 5/2 had those wins not come at Cheltenham and yes, whilst we all know how important course form is, the Triumph will be a completely different test all together. I’d rather take Mr Adjudicator at 8/1 who has experience of big fields and some decent grade 1 form, over AS who has beaten smaller fields in less competitive races.

I have a decent bet on Mr A, his last run at Leops, getting the better of Farclas, was 2 seconds faster than Samcro 30 mins later in the Deloitte, I know other factors are at work but still that equates to around 10 lengths, big chance. The main negative for me is that he was held up at the back in that run, could be a problem in a big field.

Personally, I am surprised some prefer Mr Adjudicator ahead of Farclas again. I think Farclas is almost certain to overturn the form in the Triumph. Farclas looks a much more raw animal to my eye with loads of improvement to come, I think its had a great education in its races to date and I am expecting big improvement. I think a stronger pace and more of a test will be perfect for it here, I also think it will love Cheltenham and if within a couple of lengths of anything at the last, its gonna be a huge threat as I think it will relish the stiff uphill finish.

I'm becoming more and more keen on this fella.

Totally agree with you Westo & is my pick in this (will reel in Stormy Ireland coming to 2 out!) - Elliott's said as much in his stable tour too, expecting a lot of improvement from him & is tongue tied to help get the air into his lungs for a charge up the hill!
