I know there is a similar thread but thought it would be interesting to try and see what horses people are tracking which may not have been discussed too much on here. I've built a pretty decent book thanks to this forum over the last couple of years and I am on course for this year too. I've also purchased the excellent Jumpers to follow and One Jump Ahead books to try and get a bit more insight.
Today I tidied up my tracker...well, removed some and replaced with a whole lot more, with horses I have already backed or that I am tracking with a view to backing. I thought it could be good to discuss some horses which perhaps we haven't discussed to death on here to try and eke out some more angles. I'll kick off with a few of mine and probably add more to the thread in the coming days.
American Mike - One I know has been mentioned on here but not regularly. One thats been on my radar for a bit and having read the OJA book one that I am excited to see. The book suggests that American Mike will be seen to best affect over 2m4f and long term will go hurdling and then chasing. There's mentions of running in a bumper (even going as far to say winning one is a formality) which is what I had in mind. There's a lot of uncertainty around the Champion Bumper market but I do feel that American Mike could be one to try and emulate Envoi Allen's early career.
Allegorie de Vassy - another one from the books which had gone under my own radar. Rich Ricci picked her as his horse to follow and there's mentions that she is potentially a classy one with the Mares Novice Hurdle mentioned as a possible target over this season. I am firmly behind Gypsy Island for this but I do like to have cover whenever there are question marks (e.g. Gypsy Islands injury history) and this horse could be a good one to have onside at 25/1.
Vauban - Another one now with Willie Mullins and Rich Ricci. "The most excited I've been about a purchase from the flat since Saldier" were the words from Ricci and I recently pulled the trigger and backed Vauban for the Triumph. He got the jockey out of trouble for his win over in France with a nice turn of foot and seemingly a lot of heart. I don't usually dip into the Triumph market this early but with me getting Quilixios on board at 25/1 last season I thought I'd at least try and get one where I can get to the Triumph and this horse is one of my preferred ones. Nice write ups in both books probably made my decision that little easier.
I do have plenty more I am watching but I will let some of you guys share thoughts and other tracker horses and see what we can come up with together.
