The ULTIMA Handicap Chase

Was Cobra De Mai mentioned in Skeltons stable tour? He’d seem a no hoper after his last couple of runs, but he ran well in this last year & is 7lbs lower now. Wouldn’t be guaranteed to get in, but I’d have to have a couple of quid on at 50/1 if he did come here just in case!

He's gone to Caroline Bailey Stormez. Just owned by one of the original owners now.

I'll find out what the intentions are and post when I hear.

They've taken the decision that he won't get in and they're going to Ascot instead. :encouragement:

Slate House off a second run after a wind op and decent weight in this, if only he could learn how to jump.

I was looking at him last night and thought he was interesting. Tizzard puts me off, stable has been out of form all season.

The other one I was looking at was The Butchers Said, owned by the race sponsor who has 3 or 4 entries. Need to watch some of his races back and I'm not sure he will get a run. He also wants better ground so perhaps one to look at in a couple of weeks time when this might be a bit clearer.

Entered at the weekend

A big negative is his mixed record at Cheltenham, he either wins or doesn’t complete. He’s raced a whopping 10 times at Cheltenham so the trainer must think the course plays to his strengths. I agree he’s well handicapped, loads of course experience and capable of winning but his past 4 races at Cheltenham read poorly, he’s been pulled up twice, fell and finished 6th so he’s not improving with age.

It’s like west approach the sequel

The butcher said is beginning to interest me at 33/1 nrnb

Absolutely cruised through the race last time before stopping quickly

Has had a wind op, runs tomorrow (also backed him for that) so even if he just runs OK coming here you have the second run after a wind op angle

Will get the gd ground that he likes

Has had two runs close together a few times so that's not a worry either

The entry tomorrow put me off. I was hoping to see him getting an entry in the plate but the owners sponsor the race so there's an obvious attraction for them to run him.

Not sure what I'd like to see from him tomorrow but I'll be watching with interest.

Il be happy if he wins but for the purposes of this a typical first run after a wind op would be nice

Travel into it nicely

Blow up like last time

Then realise he can actually breathe this time after the wind op and run on

I posted quite a while back about Milan Native returning to Cheltenham in this race, with the same jockey on board again. Obv won KM last year.
His mark has dropped a little this season and it just felt right.
The lad on the finishing line with hair that grows sideways said last night that Rob James has turned Pro. (had he already just done this last year ?)
Likely to be able to claim 7lbs again.
It makes the horse more interesting.

I've already backed him but may top up.

Yeah definitely on the radar since last mentioned.
Gordy said it'd be the plan too didn't he.
I like him....

I can see Gordon using good 5lb and 7lb claimers more than usual in the handicaps, particularly with Davy Russell missing.

The Boodles, for one, and the Pertemps.

He'll have Rob James and Jordan Gainford both claiming 7lbs and worth every ounce of it.

Wanted to see more than that

Championship pace that race, found plenty out with a mile still to go. Nibbled him for todays race but yeah he will need dropping in grade a fair bit down the line.
