The horse you can't wait to see this season is...

Patrick rode Blackbow in every race which should tell you all you need to know about how they were thought of at home.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to back any of last season's bumper horses until they'd had a spin over hurdles or at least until they have an entry for a maiden hurdle. I'm not certain that they're all back in the yard yet but, hopefully, the stable tour will be informative.

I think that I'd be most interested in Douvan's entries because his path will likely have a bearing on the Festival target for a good number of other horses.
 
I am super excited about seeing Black Op and Kalashnikov go over fences

I may be wrong but I don't think mullins likes to run his best bumper horse in the champion bumper, over the last few years a injury has prevented them from running in it, faugheen, getabird and last year antepost favourite Hollowgraphic. I wouldn't be surprised if Hollowgraphic is his no 1 this year along with whatever he's bought that we haven't seen. 33-1 ballymore/Supreme is a huge price.

I think Mullins either doesn't know who his best bumper horse is or others show greater/unexpected improvement.

Relegate, Briar Hill and Champagne Fever have all won for the yard despite returning at bigger prices than other representatives, Briar Hill I seem to remember was a 20/1 Mullins/Ruby runner leaving 55,000 punters on course scratching their head as to how he was allowed to go off at that price....

I just think he likes to protect those ones that are possibly a little bit classier than the rest by not running them at Cheltenham in the bumper

That could very well be the case Samcro, but history tells us the second string aren’t too bad....
 
I would absolutely, definitely, one hundred percent hold all bets until the stable tour.

The one thing that caught my eye about Tornado Flyer was (to my memory)his price crumbled on the day of both Cheltenham and Punchestown which made me think he must be a favourite amongst the yard

In general, don't "we" over bet the bumper horses? I think I've heard that said (although it is fun looking through the list of bumper results and seeing who came where - Supersundae 6th in 2015, Bay of Freedom was 9th and Bellshill 10th. Moon Racer 1st, Yanworth 4th - they've all taken different paths!

Deffinately, i always do. But i genuinely believe blackbow is the real deal (I never learn)

100% Kev. Said this about the lot the previous season and got some opposing comments back, which is great as it's a forum, but ultimately I think I was proven correct (on this one and only occasion :highly_amused:).

Despite my ramblings last season regarding bumper horses I do actually think there may be some substance in this years lot, I think there are a couple that were held back from the festival for one reason or another that could potentially be special are, and no surprises really, Hollowgraphic & Commander Of Fleet, from over the Irish Sea.

I've just had a look at the past 5 seasons runnings of the Supreme, and Willie has run just 2 horses of those that contested a champion bumper, both of them were Wylie horses, one finished 2nd (Shaneshill), the other 2nd to last (Bellshill). I would say it is glaringly obvious that WPM does not send champion bumper horses to the Supreme......cue one of them bolting up at the festival now, that said, it is still enough for me to avoid backing any of them for this race at this moment in time.
