The Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle

Pied Piper 144

Fil Dor 141

I guess, at a push, Fil Dor could have a claimer on top and still come here, but would find it highly unlikely now.

With the emergence of Vauban, if I were the owners, I'd want both aimed here. Pied Piper looks the pure speed and quality horse to take on Vauban accordingly, but I still wouldn't dismiss Fil Dor. The Triumph can be a staying affair and that lad seems to stay.

Champion Green and Ebasari both entered in the 4yo novice hurdle at Naas on Saturday. This race has previously been won by Band of Outlaws and Aramax on their way to winning the Fred Winter/Boodles at Cheltenham.

The Tide Turns aswell. Would be the third run required for the Boodles for him.

Can't imagine they planned that with The Tide Turns, to be out again a week later.

The other two, much more like a plan!

Agree, FD does look the ultimate Triumph horse to me. Proper grinder/Stayer . The race is always run at a crazy pace which will suit him. It'll ge difficult for him to turn things around with the front two but it's still a possibility.

….16-1 Lads/Coral still available for HMS Seahorse after that win.

Job done by Swinging London at Fakenham, shouldn't get much/any for it and on a nice mark (124).

Assuming this Gaelic Warrior is not already home & hosed as seems to be the feeling, a couple from my early long list run on Wed for 3rd time & thus their mark:

HMS Seahorse at Fairyhouse is so obvious having been beaten by the favs for the Triumph fto & G1 4th on 2nd run. Ideal profile for this assuming he wins easy on Wed.

The other is ex Irish Swinging London at Fakenham fto for Olly Murphy. Could be an interesting contender if getting in down the bottom.

Both won easy as expected & have ew chances for me.

Think the 16s HMS very fair if it wasn’t for this big Richie-Rich lurker at the head of the betting!

….into 12-1 now with Lads, 16-1 365 antepost.

Hms seahorse will have to seriously brush up on his jumping to have any chance

Did his best to throw the race away today clouting the last 3 hurdles

Can anyone enlighten me regarding Gaelic Warrior, I see according to the racing post he is rated 117 if this is his official rating surely he won't get in to this race.

The trainer entered him in GB recently and he got a mark of 129.

On that, do we see him getting in? Just in at the bottom I suspect but it could be tight. Wonder if Elliott leaves Fil Dor or Pied Piper will be left in top weight.

129 would make the cut in each of the last 5 years so no reason to assume he won't get in this year as well

Thank you for your wisdom, can I pose a slightly different question regarding G.W. is that 129 an official rating or could it be reviewed.

It's the BHA Handicappers official rating.

If he doesn't run before Cheltenham, then he can only have his handicap mark amended based on the cappers' view on any collateral form changes from the races he ran in France

Once again thank you.

Maybe a stupid question - but where has all the hype come from given GW is unraced in the UK? Does his French form have much to it? Stable gamble? Must have had some money down to be 9/2 fav unraced since arriving

The French horses he finished in and around are now rated in the 140's and 150's. French ratings mind you.
But I personally researched him and expected a rating of 140+, so didn't back him when everyone else did.
129 was a surprise.
