Supreme Novices Hurdle 2020

Cow bells at the ready though just in case... I thought he was a knocking good bet tomorrow at 10/3

Actually I can't have thought it was that good because I haven't backed it yet :highly_amused:

Hahaha. His best form is on better ground so I’m not sure what to expect. The favourite looks decent as well so it will be a good test. My concern is that if they do lose, they look at the handicap route that was previously mooted.

Well if they do go handicapping, he'd need to be winning a big one and they'd still end up going Supreme after that... #rosetinted

If he's not good enough he's not good enough but I'll be disappointed if he's pants tomorrow.

Time Flies By 7/1 is nearly too good today but have taken it anyway

Quote after he won the Cheltenham October bumper

As for future plans for Time Flies By, a switch to hurdles is on the agenda.

Henderson added: “We were schooling him the other day, and he was a bit green in behind horses, so we switched plans and said ‘Go on, give him a bumper run’.

“He was green and needed education before he went jumping – otherwise the whole thing would have been too much in one go.

“He will go straight to hurdles, because he is a fantastic jumper. He was up at AP’s (McCoy) last year – and they taught him how to jump.”

Quite a bit of money for McFabulous who has halved from 7/1 to 7/2

Actually one of my bigger winners in the TWAR market so hopefully there is some substance to it

Well won by Master Debonair there, seemed to power through the mud at end bit like last time out, it does suggest that he might need the mud.

20s seems a fair price for this, which isn't something you can say about many ante prices! Would likely need it soft on the Tuesday. Maybe I'm reading into his form a bit too much but when in slightly larger fields he seems to have the blots on his formbook, and if he jumps left like he can I could see that being the case in the Supreme.

Last season his best performances were on better ground so I’d say he’s versatile.

Power talking up his chances on soft after the race also.
Bullshit I'd say.
Don't think ground matters.
His jumping might.

Yeah I think you may be right, I was questioning last time out if he would cope with the mud but it certainly seemed that he can cope with both. Some of his bumper form on good does put him ahead of Thyme Hill which is a nice. I would suppose you need to think he has the valid excuses for that bumper performance last March.

:triumphant:

The band looks to be gaining members JM ;)

Jumping certainly could do with improvement

Was there any news on shishkin after his fall the other day?.....I've had a look but I can't find anything

Tizzard/Power now have MD and Fiddlerontheroof for this.

Henderson often targets the novice hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day with one of his best Supreme horses. He has four entered this year:

Daphne Du Clos
Fred
Mister Coffey
Vegas Blue

The first two have yet to win over hurdles and the second two come from bumper successes. Mister Coffey was mentioned a while ago on here and fetched a big price at the sales. He could be the one. It doesn’t look a particularly deep race so they may pitch him in on debut.

I was just looking at the cards for the Boxing Day and Mister Coffey is still 66/1 for the supreme which is a massive price if he turns up on Boxing Day as Nicky Henderson uses this races as a statement of intent and Fred and Daphene Du Clos have fluffed their lines so far so Mister Coffey maybe his A Lister this season after a few of Henderson’s juvenile novices have not impressed so far.

We must have been typing at the same time....

Ha ha, I’m still amazed Mister Coffey is still such a big price, it seems too good to be true. Has anyone heard how’s he’s been schooling or heard anything? You wouldn’t normally see a juvenile hurdler trainer by Nicky Henderson at such a potential massive price

Mister Fisher won the 12.50 at Kempton Boxing Day 2018.....is it that a mere co-incidence and name play or is this a Christmas gift from the betting Gods :triumphant:

Interesting that Henderson's last winner before Altior's victory in 2016 was 1992. Record in last 20 years reads:
7, 5, 3, 1, 4, 2, 2, 2, 2, 4, 8, 2, 3, no runner, nr, 3, 3, 10, 9, 8.
So a lot of seconds and thirds and knocking on the door I guess.

Daphne was a big eye catcher for me at Sandown... she’d be the one for me here.

Mister coffey was well on top, and looks talented. but another where the bumper form has worked out rubbish. So not sure what to expect.
