Supreme Novices Hurdle 2020

Thought Lavelles shaped well LTO but likely won’t be good enough for this. Chantry hopefully wins for my ante but his price today is shortttt

I’d agree with that- the race has plenty of depth- people on on twitter were mentioning how a 365 trader would get the sack after opening 15/8... little bit over the top imo.

Agree. Think Chantry will do well if he wins today. First time out, first time over hurdles, first time at Cheltenham. He's a chaser for the future so don't think they'll give him a hard time if he's under pressure on the turn in. Thought Glory and Fortune should have been shorter based on his course form and his last run in a decent race where he looked like finishing closer but for being stopped when making his move. I'd have them around 2/1 joint.

As expected the 40's about Chantry House with B365 for this race are gone, into 25's now...

Definitely think Chantry House has a task on his hands to win, although the 2 main rivals are having to give him 6lbs, the rest fall under the same as CH in that we just don’t know but CH has the hype and reputation.

Not got him covered for this see him as needing further but can’t grumble at 40/1 even for a CashOut play. Covered any race a while back with Hills at 25/1 he’s into 14/1 now.

Blackbow & Mr. Lingo declared for the 2m maiden at Navan on Sunday.

That race is four weeks before the Moscow Flyer so should Blackbow do the business I can see him heading down the route taken with Vautour, Douvan, Min etc....I'll probably be hovering over the 50's for this race hoping he settles better & finds more at the finish. It doesn't look a particularly deep race at all however so we may not learn much.

Chantry House still plenty green & needs to brush up on his jumping technique but that was a nice start in a race that was run at a far from ideal pace. Plenty left in the tank and probably value for more than the bare result suggests.

Yep, decent debut but would need to step up quite a bit on that to trouble the best of them.

Sitting on the fence, dont know what to make of that. Pace the race went could be used as an excuse and I thought was in trouble at one stage, but over the last it showed a bit of class to go on. Glad it won today, but not sure yet if good enough to win here. But definately potential to go on. Happy enough with my slip, but not blown away with performance.

The stronger the race, the harder it is to win. He did very well on debut in what was a strong novice imo.

He was still very green. Liked how he settled early despite the lack of pace. Looks a really straight forward horse.

Nice debut for me and sure to come on alot for it.

Pace was very slow, he looked in bother but once BG got at him a little makes up the ground easily enough again and did well to tough it out.

Will come on a lot from that as was green as has been said, better pace will suit too.

He looks an ideal type for the Tolworth, wonder if Nicky has that penciled in next. Previous two Tolworth winners came from that race at Cheltenham today in Elixir De Nutz & Summerville Boy.

Based on what we saw today I'm fairly confident there wont be much talking of Chantry House in this thread. For me, the Henderson horse in the supreme is Shishkin @ 33's and I think that price will go soon.

'Shishkin and Chantry House would be among our brightest novice hurdlers'

Both have lofty reputations which Chantry House has just lived up to (without blowing anyone away) and Nicky has stated publicly that they will be kept apart.

Many people have asked about Shishkin and he worked very well this morning so is ready to go. Ascot is a possible starting point for him as I'm keen to keep him and Chantry House apart'

Shishkin has an entry next week at Newbury but I believe the plan is the Kennel Gate at Ascot. We know Nicky's leading novice hurdlers tend to start at Ascot, Kempton or Newbury and I think if he wins he'll go from 33's to a single figure price.

He appears to be completely undiscovered in the market. PP & Betfair go 20's whilst B365 go 33's. If you have a B365 account with cash out then this for me is a no brainer. As I mentioned about a week ago, I've been told by someone connected to the stable that Henderson holds Shishkin in the highest regard of their novice hurdlers. He sounds fairly hopeful (always does tbf) - 'He’s got a considerable amount of talent and we’re relishing novice hurdling'.

Shishkin is obviously very well thought of at home especially given Nicky is planning on starting him first time out in the Kennel Gate and he won his bumper as he liked but the nagging doubt I have is the collateral form of that bumper is shocking, it was a very weak field!

He’s definitely worth a stab at 33/1 with cash out but I’d have liked to see his bumper form franked to some degree.

Fly Smart set to appear in the new year. Looks like it’ll be 1 run and the Supreme if he’s up to it.

I get we're hard wired to study form but it will forever remain a mystery to me why the form of a class 5 flat race won that easily matters.

Where did you here that? Can't wait to see him

I think both would realistically be Ballymore horses myself. Shishkin looked pacy at Kempton but it really was a dire field of future chasers. I’m a fan and expect him to be competitive but I wouldn’t hang my hat on the Supreme.
