Supreme Novices 2017

Mullins can be a creature of habit, where have his previous Deloitte runners ended up?

Champagne Fever - Supreme
Vautour - Supreme
Nichols Canyon - Neptune
Bleu Et Rouge - Albert Bartlett, (Bellshill - Supreme & Petit Mouchoir - Supreme)

Deloitte

2016 - Bleu Et Rouge then AB
2015 - Nicols Canyon then Neptune
2014 - Vautour then Supreme (he also ran in the Moscow Flyer that year)
2013 - Champagne Fever then Supreme
2012 - Sous-Les-Cieux then Neptune

Glad to see Crack Mome run. Some good news for me in the Supreme after LDS and Jenkins at last!

I still think until one of these horses puts it up on the track then the pecking order will be undecided regardless of how highly thought of the horse is. Probably whatever gives Ruby the best feel during the prep run. Can only be good news for Crack Mome though this news

Crack Mome (Wylie), Cilaos Emery (McMahon) and Melon (Donnelly) all have different owners, so in theory all three (plus others) could turn up in the Supreme.
Ruby's ride will be the one that goes off favourite!

Thanks for the quick responses on the targets. I suppose it isn't conclusive but with IO and Crack Mome it is similar to the Yorkhill, Bellshill situation.

I'd like Mullins to fire a few but if he doesn't have a standout then I'd take that as a sign of weakness and start thinking more about the British runnerving?

Nicky Henderson has said on one of his blogs that Jenkins has had a setback related to his last run where he bruised a tendon.Fluid has been drained from the tendon and its a setback he could have done without says Henderson.Whether that contributed to the bad run is unclear but he's getting there says Henderson.

That's great news Iain. Much prefer they found something wrong with the run than were left scratching their heads. Sounds like a race against time to get him ready for Cheltenham though.

That is a bit of a relief. The nrnb for Jenkins now must be worth considering for anyone not already on?

Henderson on Top Ville Ben - looks like the next run will determine if he's Cheltenham bound

TOP VILLE BEN maintained his unbeaten record at Leicester yesterday and looks a decent prospect. I like the way he’s going and in two runs for me, he hasn’t seen a horse as he’s done it all from the front. He’ll be kept to this level for the time being and if he does well next time, then we can consider putting him into something more grown up. He’s owned by the Million In Mind partnership who always sell their horses at the end of the season so it would be nice if he could make a few quid for them. He’s a fun horse to have around, that’s for sure!

Willie on Crack Mome ahead of today. FWIW I am expecting a big marker to be laid down today.

"Crack Mome (2.10)
It is a race we like to target with our top-notch novices and have won the last four years on the trot with some seriously talented individuals – Mozoltov (2013), Vautour (2014), Douvan (2015) and Min (2016). I've no doubt whatsoever that he is a better horse than the one you saw winning at Clonmel last month. He was green that day and did plenty wrong before going on to win reasonably well in the end. He will need to improve upon that to win a Grade 2 this time, but I'm convinced he has. His work at home has been really good and he seems to be in great order going into the race."

took another slug of CM with sky yesterday. Hopefully CM & CE will both turn up on the day. I cant have anything from these shores winning the supreme from what ive seen. I'll take the 2 Mullins horses(excluding Melon,Saturnas) against the field. JP might put one of his 4yo in(not DDS) but they don't win. This race is turning out to be a make-or-break Tuesday for me. Either one in the frame will get me out of gaol, or the NRNB.

It's pleasing to hear that he's been working much much better than what we saw in his last run. It didn't blow anyone away but was still a nice run with slick jumping. Hoping for the same Rowebot :encouragement:

Maybe Moon Racer will shorten whilst sitting in his box... :devilish:

What do we make of moon racers hurdle form? won twice under a length victory over Ballyandy and a 2length victory of Mirsaale and Ballyandy again. Mirsaale next 2 races 5th of 6th beaten 64 lengths and then 9th of 9 beaten 27lengths. He doesn't scream a decent type to me. Ballyandy I don't know what to make of yet. 3 defeats, 2nd and 3rd to Moonracer then when stepped up in distance like I thought he needed but was beaten by Messire Des Obeaux (who has looked decent but over further than 2mile).

It's not been kind to me this year, the Supreme. My book is in a right mess. Market has been very tough to predict as well. Cialos Emery has been all the rage for a fortnight or so and Paddy were as low as 7/1 yet were as big as 14/1 on Crack Mome only last week! Now they are both 10's and CM appears to be all the rage. It must also be noteworthy that they have chosen CM today with their history in this race.

Need a miracle to get out of this race level :grumpy:

You won't be alone CCM. Plenty of the talked up horses have blown out this season.

I had a couple of pts on Jenkins and that was all but he probably won't make it there. I've steered cleear of this market, I just cannot see anything that's standing out from the bunch

Where does that leave us?
Looked to have everything under control until fluffing the last...

Crack Mome just been beaten, thatll shake the market even more
