Supreme Novice Hurdle 2019

Sounded like Oli Bell brought up Enurgumene to me... and Ruby never gave up the name off his own back.
 
Enjoyed that program. Mark Howard is always very good, but was most impressed with Will Smith. Seems to really know his stuff.

Very much how I saw that too. Not sure he even knew anything about the horse! (not that i'd read anything into that - not uncommon this early on)

I like listening to Will Smith too. Has he stopped playing cricket and turned to racing punditry?
 
I thought it was underwhelming but they don't have much to go on to be fair. Will Smith said Wholestone beat Vision Des Flos for toe. Bizarre analysis.

He used to play professional cricket for Durham and was decent, captained them for a while.

I watched the first hour and thought it was ok. I was actually surprised that Nevison had an opinion and didn't just harp on about the favourites.
 
Only just watched Eldorado allen. I wasn't expecting that. Really impressed me. Took the 33s with 365 for the supreme and cashed royal rendezvous.

I actually backed him that day and agree he was impressive. But as a half brother to Auvergnat and looking at the way he flew up the Sandown hill in heavy ground, I thought he looked one for a bit further?

His formlines paid another big compliment to Epantate as well.

Eldorado Allen is likely to have one more outing before being stepped up to the top table for the 32Red Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown.

The Colin Tizzard-trained four-year-old, who is a general 33-1 shot for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, could return to the Esher track for the Grade One prize on January 5, after making his British debut a winning one there earlier this month.

Assistant trainer Joe Tizzard said: “He is nice. It was only a maiden hurdle he won at Sandown, but he was very eyecatching.

“He was purchased with a big reputation from France and has done everything right at home.

“Terry Warner (part-owner) was telling people he was the second best horse he has had beforehand. He did do it properly and looked impressive.

“We will probably stay small next time, before going to the Tolworth in the new year.

“We’ve not made a definite plan yet. He has come out of it well and didn’t have a hard race.”
 
2 wins in France on what would have been bottomless ground. Might be even better on good ground we'll see.

Has he run more than the two times showing on RP boopa? Didn't win either of those?
 
Wouldn't know. It doesn't have a heavy ground action.

Noticed you've brought ground up as potential issue on one or two horses. So I'm interested to know what your thought process is in terms of ground.
To keep it short, I'm not someone who gets concerned about the ground in terms of a horse 'acting' or not as I believe the vast majority will go on any ground (except perhaps extremes, like firm or heavy) To my mind only a small percentage are truly ground dependent in terms of a suited action or frame/make up/fragility, and these horses only really demonstrate this (statistically) after many racecourse appearances,

and so to my mind when I look at the ground I will in most cases simply weigh up the horses form/ability/breeding in terms of stamina and/or speed. Dependent upon the ground.

Very basically,
If I think a horse has more speed than his opponents and the going is good with no obvious (too fast) pace issues in the race then I would favor that horse, especially on a quicker/flatter track.

On a stiffer track on softer going I'd be looking for something with a bit more stamina (either proven or likely on breeding)

What Im saying is... you said the horse has won twice on what would have been bottomless ground. Where did you get that info from as his form on the RP shows he ran twice in Fance but won neither?

I posted the below earlier in the week. His jumping was immaculate and was one of the standout performances this season in the UK. Form could be decent too.

I’m still holding out some hope on Mister Fisher coming good after Henderson’s post race comments. The other one I recently caught up on his debut is Eldorado Allen Of Colin Tizzard. He made his debut at Sandown And was up against some Bumper winners including the favourite, Severano, who was also fifth in the Aintree Bumper (good form from that race). Eldorado Allen travelled sweetly throughout, jumped economically, and put the race to bed easily with two great jumps down the home straight and a nice turn of foot.
