Ryanair 2020

Douvan out injured for Christmas (SP Life)

“Douvan didn’t come out of his race well, but it’s not the problem he had before. It’s a back-end problem and he must have hit a fence in Clonmel,” said Mullins.

“He’s going to miss Christmas, but hopefully will be back after that.”

Once again, as good as could be hoped. I'd have thought they'd have gone in fresh to the Ryanair anyway, imo.

Hopefully goes a bit under the radar over Christmas and is a fair NRNB price.

Thanks. Cashed out for a profit on this.

I can't believe he's still 8/1? (Min)

Defi Du Seuil - not a certain runner unless you haven't backed him for the QMCC :devilish:
Chacun Pour Soi - Likely QMCC (especially as he's in the ownership of Min who is proven at this trip)
Douvan - Fair enough Douvan is a better horse.
Cyrname - Surely goes Gold CUp if he goes to the festival, or he'll skip it?
Footpad - Isn't better than Min
Frodon - Won it last year but I think Min is a better horse
Cilaos Emery - probably QMCC too? ...but Min is better.
Altior - unlikely runner
Janicka - 16/1? handicapper.
Road To Repsect, Kalashnikov, A Plus Tard etc...... Min is a proven G1 winner...

Very, very fair price at 8/1 if you ask me.
Don't fancy Min at Cheltenham over 2 1/2 think he will fade from the last. Think you may have missed the winner off your list. A Plus Tard.

There's no open graded 2m4f chase in Ireland until the Kinloch Brae on the 19th(?) January. The only other one before Cheltenham is the Red Mills (15th February).

He didn't fade from the last today so I'll take my chance.

A Plus Tard is in my list if you read it properly..... to elaborate though.... Min is a proven grade 1 winner.

A Plus Tard has won twice:

Beginners Chase (2nd time of asking)
Listed Handicap Chase (impressive fair enough but still only a listed chase)

He's been beaten in a Grade 3 by Winter Escape getting a chuck of weight
Beaten 14L in a Grade 1 at Punchestown
Beaten 3L by Ballyoisin in a Grade 2.

Best price of 20/1? Nooooo thank you. :highly_amused:

I agree with Kev.

Min looks like the winner of this to me, assuming Douvan isn’t there fighting fit, which I think is unlikely!

You can make a case for a number of others, but Min’s form over 2 and a half looks the best in the race to my eye.

I still think Janika will place in this, mind. Form at Cheltenham. Right there on ratings. And that Tingle Creek dart shows he’s not a 2 miler.

My bad.... missed the etc. A Plus Tard is a big player and huge positive is he'll deffo be aimed at this race. Just can't fancy Min at Cheltenham at all. Aintree, and any other easy track yes but that hill is a no, no.

It’s a positive he will be targeted at the race. It’s a negative he needs a specific set of conditions to be seen at his best and won’t necessarily get them. Not ideal for antepost. He’s unlikely to go on a run of wins I doubt so again, antepost no no!

What part of his form makes him good enough?

Just simply the nature of his win last year. Can't beat horses for courses and he clearly loved every bit of it. Behind Tiger he was the easiest winner of the festival in what everyone was saying was a very competitive race before the off. He is a huge player.

Technically, the Ryanair is on a different course to the Close Bros.:devilish:

His win was about 10lb better than any of his other races and he needs another 10lb on top of that to be a 'huge' player.

Yep, improvement required but think there's plenty there to come. Henry seems very confident that he can make the step up. Think we'll know more on his next run. Very workable odds compared to others

Might Bite 40-1 for this with 365.... I think this race would be ideal for him and he could go off and try and make all...

What have you seen from Might Bite in the last 12 months that suggests he could be competitive?

In his races he's been fading away because he's just not that good any more. I personally don't think it's because he want's a drop back in trip.....I don't think any price would get me interested in him for any race.
Though you can never knock a stab at a 40/1 shot.

Are you not a little suspicious of the form from day 1 of the festival, looks like a few of those winners need to go and back up their performances and prove it?

I think his jumping style and the way he travels means he’s not been staying rather than that he has lost all ability.... might be wrong but would like to see it...

Im one of Might bites biggest fans and even now 40/1 wouldnt particularly interest me at this point. If he turns up in the ryanair @ 40s I'd throw a daft few quid at him but cant see him winning it at now 11.

Seems like that Gold Cup took him places he never wants to go again..

A Plus Tard to go for 2 mile race at Leopardstown on Dec 27th. Bit surprised by that. Thought they'd find something over 2 1/2 after his last run
