RSA Chase 2019

Hi guys, been more of a reader than a poster.
I'm a big fan of TOTG, think he could be a real superstar of the Nichols yard. Looks a right gold cup horse for next year, do you guys think his jumping will hold up in a strongly run RSA

Welcome thenative. I think it will. I was slightly worried he would go JLT but Paul Nichols didn't seem best pleased (to put it lightly) that Santini was favourite in the market so I'm guessing all roads lead here

Hopefully, was planning a nice bet on him, and believe the 7/1 nrnb is still a great price

Nice run by on the blind side. He'll have a chance here.

After the shin issues of last year I'd be surprised if they consider the festival, he was very poor on New Years Day too, the sensible option would be to wait for Aintree for me

Decided to have my first decent bet in this race on On the blind side 22/1 price boost with Ladbrokes. As mentioned elsewhere he is one of only 2 Cheltenham ante-post tips put up by Paul Ferguson in his book Jumpers to Follow. He clearly rates the horse very highly, was very impressed with his first half of the sason, the way he got up the Cheltenham hill, and thinks his return run at Aintree can be ignored, he's even put him on the front cover. What also highlighted the potential value to me were the comments made by Jeremiah McGrath who rides for Henderson: 'we like him an awful lot at home and I would hope he will end up in the RSA chase'.

Contrast that with these comments he had on Santini: '... He was still a big baby last year and he might be a horse we don't see the best of for another 2 or 3 years'. He obviously says encouraging things about Santini (clearly the horse surprised them on the track) but I couldn't help get the impression that OBTS is the one they think has the most potential this season, and with the price (boost) difference of 13s versus 22s I'm happy to take the plunge on OTBS at this early stage.

It's alive.....Haha! Long time ago that now, and like many on here I'm in a good position on the front 3 in the market, so even if he lines up would just consider that a big bonus

Definite potential with this Rhinestone! Like you said, if he makes it to the Festival then that is a bonus in itself!

A chance of a small field perhaps?

The big 3 at the top of the market look pretty solid, may be a bit of deadwood in the race.

I haven't seen the replay yet of On The Blind Side... would you back him now at 22/1 any race if you had the chance?

Liked his performance today and thought he jumped well. However, a lot has happened since my first post including a very disappointing pipe opener at Cheltenham and consistently strong performances by the front 3 in the betting. No way I'd be rushing to back him at 22s, each way at 33s perhaps, although think I would wait for NRNB

Nothing for Mullind in the Flogas doesn't seem right

Love Topofthegame- watching him anyway. Can’t say he’s an easy one to back though!

I’d love to see him fulfil the obvious potential. However, his jumping is a little concern and the way he got mugged at Kempton does make me wonder if he’s one who will battle up the hill at a place like Chelt. Would love to see him win this though.

I was considering a saver on Topofthegame - but now TS has tipped it up I feel confident about leaving it alone. Should have backed e/w at the big price earlier in the season but missed the boat.

Delta Work non runner in Flogas anyone know why?? Ground??? Usually goes on any ground tho

Thank you scooby. Commenting on two threads at non but you think another run before? Maybe red mills vs PP

" i just hope the ground isn't too quick as when he won here at Christmas it was as quick as he wants it. He's in good shape and I couldn't be happier with him"

Straight there likely.
Deffinately not the red mills. Percy monalee etc... will be there.

Every other Elliot, giggi horse ie No more heroes etc... has had the same season as delta work and gone straight to the RSA. Same as shattered love but JLT
