I backed Watchable as a single bet, and then ten £1 doubles, with separate horses I fancy antepost for their races. That way, if the miracle of a long shot 50/1 win comes up, I have a payout on the single, and then from the ten £1 doubles I have ten £51 win singles going on the antepost bets I fancy.

Betting with 365 is good for cash out too, so if Watchable did win then I could cash out on the ten doubles too, or let them run.

May do this £1 double play with any other big price single bets I do in the future.

That 50s only lasted a few hours. Had 4 points on the nose only to realise despite generally much preferring this strategy, 50/1 E/W 4 places was probably the way to go. Was refused a further 2 points each way at 50s...nevermind

Rhinestone, the 50’s was always going to be short-lived, well done on getting some. In today’s ATR Stable Tour for David O’Meara he also mentioned SUMMERGHAND running in the Wokingham as well, and he has had a good start for the season two runs, to 2nd’s at HQ, and only up 2 lbs for them.

Summerghand is best price 33/1 again with 365, so I plan to use my £1 doubles plan again, using a big priced horse (Summerghand) in individual doubles with half a dozen other horses I fancy ante post. A cheap way of having a chance of getting a few £34 win singles Ante Post if Summerghand does win the race.

Sands of Mali 10/1 Diamond Jubilee is my latest bet.

Calyx out of RA

With Calyx out of the Commonwealth Cup, I have decided to have a bet on BIG BROTHERS PRIDE in the race, at 18/1 with Laddies price boost (from 16/1).

She has already won a Group 3 over the 6F trip this spring by 4&1/2 lengths on only her third start, and her RPR figures are similar already to Fairyland, So Perfect and Hello Youmzain, who are shorter in the betting.

I expect BBP to shorten in price the way the market leaders above her have, as people realise she represents good value at 16s (or 18s with Laddies price boost).

Sir Ron Priestley 33/1 - King Edward VII

I like SIR RON PRIESTLEY Faugheen.

Quite a few of those at the top of the market will not turn up here and he's one that I think could be coming to Ascot under the radar.

It's probably time to get this thread going.

Beatboxer did it nicely at Haydock yesterday and won cosily in the end. He is top of my list for the Britannia, with Beat Le Bon a close second.

Will Bless Him get in the Royal Hunt Cup off his mark?

* Zero chance Bless Him gets a run off current mark.

30 runner fields and track bias on the unknown going would hardly draw me in at this stage, but as I avoid handicaps like the plague and would ban all such races.
Seriously, good luck to all the handicap players.

I'd ban 2yo races (baby battering) so between us we could probably cut it down to a two day meeting.:devilish:

The Supreme Racing Club not likely to invest in the flat anytime soon

I wouldn't be surprised if Supreme had flat runners but they won't be 2yos. They had one a couple of seasons ago but I wasn't interested in it.
Most horses don't stop growing until they're 4 or 5 so, in the main, if you want your horse to have longevity it makes no sense to race them at 2.

Added 3 of the French raiders.

big brothers pride. commonwealth cup 17.53/1 EW

Shaman 22/1 EW st James palace stakes.

I love the handicaps and in many cases prefer them to group/graded races from a betting point of view.

I make you right about handicaps but I have been betting/gambling for over 60 years and there comes a time when you have to take stock of where you left your money behind on the most occassions.

I stopped backing insider tips 40 years ago and handicaps 20 years ago also what we term gaff tracks with low quality racing around the same time as not backing tips.

Yes, I still go racing and enjoy every race without not having a bet at all with the exception if I go with my mate he insists we lay out £40 each on the placepot which invariably we are out by the 2nd leg.

My weakness now is 2yr olds in mid summer and Juvenile Hurdlers but still stray outside of these such as dropping my rather large chunk on the Oaks fav.

Good luck throughout the summer.

Spanish City tenderly ridden today at Newmarket. Had a small bet at 33/1 for the Wokingham but he could be being lined up at another crack at the Bunbury Cup.
