With the novice hurdle scene lacking a standout performer and some good vibes about Fire Warning (plus the Newbury entry), thought I’d chance the Henderson double.

Fire Warning SUPREME
Old Park Star TURNERS

337/1

I wonder who gave you that idea.

I am starting to convince myself a Brighterdaysahead (Champion Hurdle) and Lossiemouth (Mares Hurdle) double is worth investing. 47.75/1 with Ladbrokes and Corals.

Sir Gino is fragile. Constitution Hill is a busted flush. Gordon Elliott has Wodhooh for the Mares. And my gut says Willie will head for the Mares Hurdle with Lossiemouth no matter what else is happening. I'd fancy Brighterdaysahead to beat The New Lion, Golden Ace and Anzadam.

Ah, ok, assume that’s you..

Hadn’t seen it (don’t follow you) so not guilty of plagiarism 😊

….not related on the face of it but Jamie Codd has put a couple of interesting ones up (see Tipsters Tips thread) for races he might have a bit of insight to, so I had to have a little e/w double;

No Walkover (CB) 33-1 (as low as 12-1 Corals)
Chemical Energy (Hunters) 16-1 (Codd suggesting he might go straight to Cheltenham having qualified)

577-1 365

The 'we haven't seen a good willie novice yet' related double.

Fou de Toi - Supreme
Mighty Park - Turners

…owners seem to suggest there’s little between Act of Innocence and Old Park Star;

Old Park Star Sup
Act of Innocence Turn

I just can't believe that for one minute.

If true..... They are very, very lucky owners !!

But...... I'll probably bet it😂

I've got old park star backed for the supreme and nothing on act of innocence for anything but after reading that i might have to do the double.

Owner Gordon Hall might though. Along with wife Sue he took the decision to send this winner, Act Of Innocence and Ginnys Destiny to Nicky Henderson from Paul Nicholls in the summer.

Nurtured in Ditcheat, the two novice hurdlers are taking flight in Lambourn.

“From the point of when we moved trainers and placed them with Mr Henderson and his team everything has been good and it’s paying dividends,” he said as he awaited the nod to step up and collect the trophy.

“Hopefully next week we’ll have the same thing with Act Of Innocence at Cheltenham What we have now is the two of them aiming at similar races and one may have to go in the two mile and the other the two-and-a-half in March.”

As he talks the replay is on the big screen behind us. You glance up and ask yourself – how can this horse not go to the Supreme?

“If I’m being honest, we were expecting him to win today but not by that margin. He’s surprised us every time. When Nico rode him at Cheltenham he got off and said I didn’t ride him there – he just got up the hill himself," Hall continues.

“So, I thought this flat track might be a bit sharp. I was watching the second horse last night and he sat at the back and came on strong at the end in his races. He’d run at more flat tracks than we had so it’s a surprise to beat him like we have – but it’s a nice surprise to have.

“The biggest problem we have now is trying to separate him and Act of Innocence. When they’ve schooled Old Park Star and gone a little further, he’s eaten it up. So it’s not clear-cut.

“Today is what the game is all about. We have a lot of days when there’s disappointment in racing, but this is what it’s all about.”

There’s a routine already in place for the opening day of the Festival.

“I’ll have to get there about 9.30 in the morning. We’ll have three or four pints of Guinness to steady the nerves. I’ll keep the lucky socks on and then we’ll see…”

They’ll be part of the attire next Saturday too when Act Of Innocence puts his own credentials on the line on Festival Trials Day.

“I’d be disappointed if we didn’t have a similar performance. There’s nothing between them, they both have the same turn of foot, the jockey likes them both. He doesn’t make statements or get excited about a lot but he’s said to me and Sue and said to Nicky, “they’ve got big engines, let’s get them in the right places.”

And for one of them that will be the Sky Bet Supreme. And it will surely be Old Park Star.

“I’ve been looking at the race, but you don’t know what’s coming from Ireland but on that performance, if I was them, I’d be thinking ‘ooh, that’s going to be a bit of a job’. Nothing has come up to his standard.”

Bollocks.....

I'll have to back OPS for the Turners now !

I originally backed AOI for Supreme and OPS for Turners.
Have since covered both for the other races, and done them in doubles for each race.
Fairly confident it will be OPS sup and AOI turn, but at least I have all covered in case it ends up the other way round.
