Punchestown Festival 2022

Heavy ground over 2 mile 4 wouldnt have helped to be fair, but still not the best of looks that his only losses have came here

Fully agree, but I guess both are reasons you could write off his performances at Punchestown if you wanted to (with regards to his chances in any race at Cheltenham next year, where he's 2-2)

He looked very one paced to me today

I agree - he didn't look good - but was he one paced because he needs further or because he ran flat? Next race will tell us more in either direction

If he goes chasing now, I think 10s for the arkle / 8s for the turners looks quite attractive personally if you write off that run there

DD and SG very disappointing.

I think they'll school SG and see how he fences. He is 7 years old though and probably won't have as much improvement in him compared to Jonbon, El Fabiolo etc so wouldn't be one I'd want to invest in this early.

DD ran a shocker.

I think what we say today was a horse who simply doesn't quicken like a top class 2 miler. Even when he won the Ballymore the expected top class turn of foot never really materialized....I maintain he'll end up a staying chaser 2m5f plus.

Dysart Dynamo obviously all wrong and if they can get him back on track I'd be happy to risk a few quid at big odds on him winning next years Arkle. That cerainly wasn't him today.

If Willie has a Champion Hurdle contender I maintain it's Vauban either of these two..

SG definitely a Stayer. Chasing beckons and Turner's or RSA

He ran exactly like he did at punchestown last year

Flat as a pancake

He's run no sort of race again

The course and 2 miles is simply too sharp for him. He's a Stayer.

Relieved there as I couldn't split Tax for Max or Tempo Chapter 2 on the Mullins second string game, and plumped with the latter who spent most of the race trying to find County Wicklow

Must admit to being gutted about Dysart Dynamo, despite being on Mighty Potter to win. I though he might be a tool, but that's two relatively unimpressive runs for varying reasons. He had the excuse of a fall last time despite clearly being third best when he fell (IMO of course) but this time ... just went out like a light. Didn't really have many of them under pressure either earlier on.

SG has the Grade 1 form to fall back on, and the manner of his defeat means a) we can probably be more certain of his Chelts destination, ruling out the Churdle, and b) his price has been fluffed up for the respective chases. Tend to agree with Lobos that the mid trip will probably suit best.

Energumene is unreal, fingers crossed we get a healthy Shishkin next year for that rematch that we didnt get sadly at Cheltenham this year

Man, was Envoi Allen really not that good or has he been plagued by the injury he got?

Energumene is just a tank isn't he?!

Yes hes very very good and runs brilliantly every time he is on the track

I'd much prefer to see paul bowl along on him though as he's a relentless galloper

No need to today though as chacun is a weak finisher that relies on winning the race miles out but energumene is too good for that

Energumene probably not even as good as Punchestown last year but has too much at the end of his race for Chacun to cope with.

Envoi Allen needs to be stepped up in trip next year.
