Kabral looks to have more gears than the new lion to my eye.
Skelton thinks that because he didn't excel over 2 miles whilst under Nicholls, that this is sufficient evidence.
Tell that to the likes of Old park Star and Act of Innocence's connections. Hurdle runs far better than the bumper efforts under Nicholls. Vastly improved.

I don't think there is much point wasting time suggesting something that isn't going to happen.

Nicholls to Skelton might be true, but the horse might just have improved for another year, and the step up in trip. He is up 15lbs since running over the minimum trip. Even if The New Lion and Kabral Du Mathan lose, I doubt the latter will end up in a Champion Hurdle.

True, we'll never know cos it's unlikely they will meet, but I'd strongly fancy and back Kabral to best New Lion over 2 miles and 2 and a half.
And I agree, we'll not know if he's improved naturally and for a longer trip or if he's improved for the change of trainer.
Just think Dan is wrong to think that this is the case 100%.
Looks like he goes to the stayers anyway and I'm a backer also back when he was 20-1.
One I hope comes up trumps just to spite Bet365 for greying cash out. One I'd have cashed for sure given the hamsters about changes.
However, I do think he travels a little too sweetly for a usual stayer.
If they don;t go a gallop though I can see him cruising to the last, then see if he can kick on like Penhill could off a slow to steady gallop

Thankfully, I had the same problem. I am thinking of Bob Olinger as the role model. He's never been a strong stayer, but was smuggled in last year. I would actually like to see a true pace as I think it would be easier to get him to switch off and jump. I would much rather actually see a strong traveller not stay, rather than just assume he won't. Not overly confident, but on the plus side he could be a class above. Said before I find it very irritating when people suggest any horse that races a little keen needs to automatically drop in trip. The other one this year is Doctor Steinberg. He is a clear favourite for the Albert Bartlett so I have no idea why you would even contemplate dropping him back in trip for the Turners, particularly if you think that Mighty Park is that good. I keep waiting for King Rasko Grey to shorten, and this might be the reason he hasn't - the idea that Doctor Steinberg will be ridden by Townend. I wouldn't give him a prayer in the Turners.

Yep, I'd fancy steinberg more in the bartlett also.
Depending on pace again as if they go mental in that race then something dour might win.
I think both Kabral and Steinberg are both types that look like the keenness will hinder them but it's more visual than actually hindering them. IMO
It does depend on how the jockey handles them though and what pace they go.
They look like horses you don't want to disappoint too much as they are enthusiastic.

They don't have to lead they just have to go at the pace they need to go. Trying to hold them will likely just confuse them.

Yes, I think you would be worried if a horse who is usually keen/enthusiastic, suddenly isn't. I don't like betting horses who are held up so I rarely back any of Skelton's. The one thing you don't want to do if you are held up is jump badly. I am not sure that Kabral Du Mathan fiddles very well, and that's my main reason for wanting a proper pace, rather than a messy one.

Just going back to the bumpers to hurdles thoughts. So many of the established trainers don't take them seriously. That's why the likes of Tom Weston has emerged with a few winners to sell on. It's completely different to Ireland. Henderson used to be the king pin, but over the last 4/5 years he has been abysmal, barely getting a winner a year.
 
Daryl Carter racing (wtf is that) one is up with Chapman, Stephen Darbyshire, Andy Holding and Carter. Decent chat but the biggest surprise is that Daryl Carter seems to be morphing into Steve Evans.

Sadly not that surprising. Not to get too into salacious gossip but he left Betfair abruptly and there are a lot of very unpleasant rumours about his behaviour that may or may not have caused that. He regularly posts live videos on X of himself absolutely pissed out of his mind offering people out. I'm surprised he doesn't look worse

The last few tickets remain on sale for the Sky Bet/Sporting Life Cheltenham Festival Preview Evening in Leeds on Tuesday March 3.

The event is run in conjunction with Yorkshire County Cricket Club and will take place in the Long Room at Headingley.

The panel includes ITV Racing duo Ed Chamberlin and Oli Bell, top pundits Fran Berry, Daryl Jacob and Mark Howard plus Marine Nationale's jockey Sean Flanagan.

Flanagan rode Barry Connell's horse to success in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at last year's Festival and is aiming to follow up this year.

Patrick Mullins will also be involved in the evening - either in person or via video link if he's riding in the bumper at Leopardstown that day.

Doors open at 6pm and a pie and peas buffet will be served before the preview gets under way at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £20 and attendees will also receive a free £5 bet from Sky Bet with the event expected to finish around 10:30pm. All proceeds from the evening will go to Sky Bet’s charity partner.

Reminds me of the old Lets LIve Racing syndicate preview that used to take place at The Plough in Prestbury then moved to Cheltenham Town FC, always a good evening with a great panel, Skybet sponsored the evening with the same offer, just a shame that pretty much everyone in the room was binned or sufficiently restricted by them it couldn't be used.
And I saw yesterday Flutter moaning about decreased UK revenue, I wonder if anyone there is capable of joining the dots....

I'm looking forward to paddy's preview night on Monday. I'd say that'll be a good one.

I know alot really like the racehour one and it has been good in the past but I found it a bit tiresome this year.

It was putrid
I was offered tickets for it and glad I made an excuse
Some of the selections were rancid
It was like they were trying to pick the longest price horse on the exchange and throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks

Tbh I've found most of the previews like that. Which was why I stopped watching them 2 years back.

They're probably handy enough for casuals who only get into their Cheltenham fix from around the end of February, but for the rest of us?

Agreed, glad I wasn't the only one. Jennings done his best to glue it together.
