Novice Chasers 2027

Yeah he mentioned OPS as he’s a Supreme winner, but saying they will be kept apart don’t mean AOI won’t be running over 2m.
For me he looked to struggle to get home over 2m5, and looks a 2 miler imo.
Winning a Supreme probably entitles the difference in ratings?
I look forward to the horses showing me how good they both are over fences at 2m
Totally agree about AOI, I'd only be interested in backing him over 2 miles.

You can't base KRG on a line through one horse. Lord Byron was in great form at the end of last season and is clearly not in the same place currently.

What is fact is that KRG followed up his win in the Turners by winning another grade 1. The 2nd hasn't raced but the third won a grade 1 whilst the 6th beat the 4th in another grade 1 (Lord Byron was 4th beaten 6 1/2 lengths suggesting either Lord Byron continued to improve or that KRG was below par still at Punchestown). We haven't seen the 5th out either. That form couldn't look any stronger in the novice division. Whether they train on and where they go will remain to be seen but as of the end of last season it looks very good.

As to how good those middle distance novices were, we shall see in time. My assumption was that the 4yos were decent and it tied in nicely with the form. The only real link we have was through the 2m novice at the DRF where Talk The Talk then disappointed in the Supreme. However, Ballyfad disappointed in the Turners also, though he bounced back with his 3rd at Aintree behind Bossman Jack and Soldier Reeve. Maybe the best argument for you is through Koktail Brut, who was beaten 6 1/2 lengths at Leopardstown, but then was only a 13 1/2 length 8th in the Supreme, despite a higher RPR and then followed up in a grade 2 at Fairyhouse over 2 miles (Was probably over the top by his last run at Punchestown). Personally, my instinct was the Supreme was suspect. Three British horses involved in a tight finish doesn't scream it is form that is strong and will stand up. I could well be wrong though. The Irish challenge in the race wasn't that strong, El Cairos and Mighty Park lacked experience whilst Talk The Talk was a drifter on the day in the betting. Our best guide will be seeing how Mydaddypaddy and Idaho Sun get on over hurdles in open company.
Obviously all academic in terms of winning a CH as he's very likely to go chasing. Form is open to interpretation (and I'm sure plenty won't agree with me, I've been plenty wrong before too in judging form of a race) so it might work out better than I expected.

But I do think the general view of Ballymore winners is something to bare in mind and I'd generally not fancy a ballymore winner to win the CH unless they were truly exceptional, which I don't think KRG is. Could be wrong, we'll see.

Could also be a bit less academic if he's a Galiway that isn't a great chaser and ends up back over hurdles at some point!

Interested in how Port Authority jumps/runs today in the beginner chase at DR as he was unbeaten and EV’s fav to win a G2 last season against Doctor Steinberg and Deviluno. A key race I believe for the potato race in Saxons race planner

He seemed to travel strongly and went out like a light at the business end……caught my eye and went in the tracker as a result…...Excuses for the very poor performance, found to be blowing hard afterwards and had a cut/nick.

Didnt run again afterwards, so maybe took time to get over injury or/and may have needed time to grow/mature etc?

Not quoted for the BANC and maybe one for the intermediate novice handicap chase at the Festival?

….Olly Murphy says Hold the Serve ‘could be one for the Jack Richards’.

What was the consensus on Love Me Tender. Didn't really register on my radar as a top graded horse but did it nicely enough. That was one hell of a corkscrew jump at the last.

I didn't see Mighty Park or Kawaboomga anywhere  ;)

You talking about Johnny's Jury HF?

Snowden told Sky Sports Racing: “I’m thrilled because that was a good race.

“We haven’t worked on grass yet or schooled on grass. That was a tough race, he made a few mistakes on his way round but it was a nice performance.

“He won over two miles over hurdles, we stepped him up after that obviously but I think he’s versatile trip-wise, I’m just thrilled to get that one out of the way.

“There’s the Grade Two at Newbury (John Francome) which Wendigo won last year or the three-miler at Sandown (Esher Novices’ Chase), they will be the two we will think about but Sandown is favourite at the moment.

“I wouldn’t be averse to bringing him back in trip, he’s a good horse but there was a hill at Carlisle and a hill at Cheltenham and Sandown has a hill.”

Sheehan feels the winner is quicker than many give him credit for.

He said: “You’d like to think (there could be something big for him over fences). He jumped brilliant bar one or two down the back when I just left it to him.

“I’d schooled him enough and he’d been brilliant so I just left it to him and he probably just needed his hand holding a bit down the back and that just put us off.

“I loved the way he came back into it, I thought he was beat on the bend but he had his ears back and head down. He’s got plenty of stamina but I think he’d win over two and a half as well. We’ve got options.”

Crystal Destruval, Crystal Island, No Drama This End, Taurus Bay and a few others all potentially running in Rising Stars Novice Chase at Aintree Saturday.

If anyone is tempted to back Narcisco Has for the Arkle and have a little cover should he stay over Hurdles, he's 8/1 in the Hills TWAR market.

100%

Stays all day and handles the course, still a knocking bet in my opinion.
I completely agree with this i was speaking to my friends about him and nobody seems excited by backing him at 18/1. There arnt many previous season festival winners who win first time out at that sort of price!
I was already on but will take some of the 18s before it disappears

Different course really
Didn’t beat much yesterday either
18-1 not that enticing really IMO
But he’s more than likely second favourite in reality so can see the attraction
Just think plenty will improve past him, especially some that ran over shorter as hurdlers
They’ve probably got more class.

Yesterday isn't what's convinced me to back him, his performances at Cheltenham and Aintree are.

He only had 5 spins over hurdle so no reason to think he won't be improving, and the AB win was his first attempt at 3m so plenty unexposed at the trip.

Difficult to get a view as the JLT has only been gone two years and neither of the top 2 from the AB ran in the BANC last year, but in year one the top 2 both came from the AB not the medium trip.

Yeah
I wouldn’t disagree
Just my thought process makes me think he’ll drop down the pecking order, even the ones in behind him in the Bartlett look more interesting to me.
Obviously I could easily be wrong but we’ll see how it pans out
