Firstly, before the racing stuff, I’d just like to say a special thanks to Eggs for holding the fort over the last couple of months. It’s very much appreciated pal. Thankyou. I have to say you’ve picked well in my opinion and am looking forward to the forum collecting as one in late March across multiple bookies haha.

Thankfully, as for myself, I am feeling much better now and am in a much better place. It’s a world of ups and downs and unfortunately I was having a somewhat larger down than I’d have wanted. But now things are back looking up and as a result, I’m back to watching the racing and prepping for the festival.

So without any further ado, let’s get going for November. With this being the first yankee of the new season where we have a full month of jumps racing to use in selecting, including races like the Ladbroke, the Betfair Chase and the Fighting Fifth, I’d propose we go without a theme this month and go purely on those who’ve impressed us in the opening 6/7 weeks of the season as the majority of horses will have at least run once by then. Horses like Bob Olinger, Appreciate It, etc will have shown if they can actually jump a fence and the same for hurdling with the likes of Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard.

Welcome back. Most races of interest are next weekend, of course, so fingers crossed that all the horses mentioned above can actually do their jobs! :friendly_wink:

Knight Salute, Triumph for me. Cracking performance round Cheltenham today, beating one of the early favourites in Magistrato. 20/1 at time of posting.

Not sure of the timings here but this looked to have been a very slow run race, unlike the Triumph
 
Surely at 16/1 TMSG has to go in? Obviously not an original pick but from a price perspective, she has to be one of the best picks out there at the moment?
 
According to Timeform, yesterday’s Triumph trial won by Knight Salute was 3m 59, which would have beaten all bar two runnings of the Triumph in the last ten years, 3 seconds off the fastest, and less than a second off the second fastest.

2020 - 4m 7.4s - Burning Victory - Gd/sft

2019 - 4m 4.8s - Pentland Hills - Gd/sft

2018 - 4m 17s - Farclas - Hvy

2017 - 4m 0s - Defi du Seuil - Gd

2016 - 3m 55s - Ivanovich Gorbatov - Gd

2015 - 4m 4s - Peace and Co - Gd/sft

2014 - 4m 1s - Tiger Roll - Gd

2013 - 4m 7.5 - Our Connor - Sft

2012 - 3m 58.6s - Countrywide Flame - Gd
 
I wouldn't compare them so literally personally, as yesterday's race was run over the old course, with the Triumph Hurdle in March being run on the new course which is more a test of stamina

Definitely, they travel uphill for longer down the back the straight and hit the bottom of the hill 200 yards further from home on the new course than the old course, and the Triumph is a full 2m 1f, I think yesterdays race was half a furlong shorter.
It does seem odd that trials are run on different courses...

Fair enough - and good points all in response. Hadnt twigged they were on different courses, which is a little odd.

Still a lot quicker than i thought it looked
 
I'm going to put a couple of mares forward as their current price is the best it's going to be:

I) Telmesomethinggirl - ran well enough on her seasonal debut considering she looked like she'd been eating pies all summer. Plenty to work on and at 16/1 a very good each way selection.
Ii) Put The Kettle on - Ran okay today. Outpaced on ground that is probably too lively for her. Aiden Coleman commented:
"They just had a bit too much speed for her. Usually on that ground, they don't come back. I finished with loads of mare. She wasn't tired at the line.
"We've gone quick and on that ground they don't stop. I was waiting for the pace to collapse, but she couldn't quite get into it. She hit the line strong and there's a lot of positives. It was just too dry for her."
She's been pushed out to 25/1 with Hills and if the ground comes up soft her stamina will come into play and she will be in there fighting at the finish.

Brilliant prices. Both will improve massively from their first runs and they've got that big tick in the box having both won at the Festival and another for having guaranteed targets.
 
Such a huge contrast in price for TMSG. 8-1 with Skybet, 11-1 with PP and as big as 16-1 with B365, so although i agree we are likely to see a vastly different run next time, i am aware that some dont have the luxury of betting with B365
