Mares Hurdle 2020

Just think that she'll be 9 come March and has proved that she does stay further in France so that if she were to get beat fair and square by Honey on Sunday clearly the Stayers will be a very good alternative. Why take Honey on again ?

You really think honeysuckle will hammer her so far that they'd run away and wouldnt fancy there chances come march when they are equally as fit ?

Why not? Using Apple's Jade as an example, she's been beat by Benie twice, why is she reopposing Benie? They must be crazy haha!

If only it was that simple......

I'd have BDD about 90% to come here, however IF, and it's a fairly big if for me, she is beaten well in the Hattons Grace then no reason why they wouldn't step her up given what she showed in Auteuil.

I do think it anything other than a heavy defeat would make the Mares 99% chance for her to run in IMO.

And, of course, a fair and square defeat for Honeysuckle might see her looking at alternative races.

I have an issue with 'she proved she can stay further'.
Just cos you win a race at 3 miles it don't mean that's the trip you're best at, and the form is not that easy to translate.
She was just the better horse on that day, and most of the horses running Sunday can/could stay 3 miles quite easily. And most would be decent at 2 miles also, as apples jade proved last year.

And why go stayers if you've been beaten by one mare ?
She'd have to be absolutely embarrassed and personally beg Willie not to face Honey again.

Or are we saying the Mares race is more competitive than the stayers ???

Don’t see anyway that BDD “avoids” Honeysuckle if she is beaten at the weekend. Even after one run there is absolutely no way Mullins will immediately think that she needs a step up after one run this season. Hasn’t looked like it to date don’t see that changing, although I’ve no doubt she could.

If Honeysuckle wins, do we not think they will be tempted by the CH? The mares would look easy pickings should she win on Sunday, but they must be tempted

He ran Min and Douvan in a QMCC
VVM and Limini in the Mares aswell

VVM/Limini was the first time he'd allowed 2 proper horses to take each other on at Cheltenham, he had resisted this for many years prior to that Mares race.
He had run one or two 'second rate' horses of his against a gun.

Min/Douvan was 2018.

And thanks for whoever it was confirming Pont Alexander as the Ballymore failure that ensured Champagne Fever spent virtually his entire career running over the wrong distance...

I'd love it personally.

Backed her for it with cashout, and Elfile for here.

Probably not much chance of it happening bar she absolutely romps home. With the mares allowance if she does prove to be a 160 mare, she really would be in the mix.

If anyone is going to spoil the Honey party this weekend I have a funny feeling it could be Bacardys. He could just be the surprise horse this year and end up being the biggest danger to Paisley following up.

Just think Benie has already won a Mares and was the moral victor in this year's so she has nothing to prove in that race. I do think if you take Paisley out of the Stayers it does look a weak renewal. With her allowance and having proved she does stay she would have a massive chance. I'd also have the luxury of my two favourite ladies in training being in separate races.

I can't speak for Willie Mullins but I'd lean towards him swapping moral victories for actual victories.

Unfinished business in the Mares is much more likely to be the goal for her.

That's just it though. It's not unfinished business. She won it in 2018. That's my last bit on this race until after Sunday. Let the horses do the talking! Can't wait.

Quevega would be an example of how desperate Willie is for getting a winner at the festival, any winner.

And a Tuesday winner is enjoyed all the more, as it settles any early nerves on how the horses are going to perform.

About time they changed the name of the race

Anyone tried placing the BDD double ( Sunday & Festival) ?
Have tried 5 accounts saying that you cannot place a relative double BUT they’ll accept Honeysuckle double ? Betfred best odds .

Is this because of liabilities?
Either horse wins me a lot of money so I should leave as is but saw it as an opportunity, having said that Drury & Salsaretta yesterday !

If you get accepted on the Honeysuckle double theres every chance you wont get paid out. You wont get a refund if he loses but if she wins they will be within their rights under their terms and conditions to refuse to pay. Ive had this done to me and learnt the hard way to ask their traders to price up the double. Im not saying a few wont slip through coz im not that familiar with how bookies operate, but Ive had one of these bets land and they refused to pay. Just saying.

Thanks BillyMag
I was under the impression that if they accept the bet then it’s binding , obviously I’m wrong .
I’ll email them to seek clarification
Thanks mate
Just rang Fred and you are absolutely correct , they’d have informed me after the first leg where it would have been picked up on their system .
They agreed that I shouldn’t have been allowed to place the bet and they’re crediting my account .
Would have been well hacked off if it’d had won !!
Thanks again

PS asked if Traders could quote a price and told no
