Mares Hurdle 2019

Given AJ and Laurina are almost certain to go for the CH, plus Ruby and Willie saying this is their best chance, I have been surprised this has been 11/10 has been available this long.

To be fair she has been hammered down from 7/2 when the same info (give or take) first came available. Reckon she'll go off 4/6 max, PP are already odds on.

Mares – Alletrix, Benie des Dieux, Cap Soleil, Champayne Lady, Elimay, Good Thyne Tara, Jester Jet, Lackaneen Leader, Lady Buttons, Limini, Mia's Storm, Momella, Roksana, Slowmotion, Stormy Ireland.

On last season's form.
Momella is a mad price in this 40's skybet ?

Mullins runners and jockey bookings here:

Benie des Dieux - Ruby Walsh
Stormy Ireland - Paul Townend
Limini - David Mullins
Elimay - Mark Walsh
Good Thyne Tara - Racheal Blackmore

Lady Buttons does have a string of wins but every chance she might be better over a shorter trip and she has a second division jock to boot. On that basis she looks pretty short.

Racing Post ...

Each-way preference is for LADY BUTTONS, whose 2m4f Doncaster chase win is very good form. Benie Des Dieux is next on the list

Alletrix A fair few others here have superior form and she is up against it

Benie Des Dieux
Won this race and a Grade 1 at Punchestown over hurdles last spring; strong claims

Cap Soleil
Useful novice last season, 2nd here; will need to resume better than ever even to place

Champayne Lady
18l third in 2m1f Mares' Novice at this meeting last season; needs a lot more

Elimay
Considerably more is needed but possible this 5yo can improve on second start for top yard

Good Thyne Tara
Tame latest run but e-w shout on previous 2m4f win at Leopardstown over Christmas

Jester Jet
Battling, narrow success in Listed mares' h'dle at Haydock; has the form to have e-w shout

Lackaneen Leader
Ran well enough back hurdling latest; needs a career best by a fair way to be involved

Lady Buttons
Excellent strike-rate; may well find more on useful 2m hurdle form at this trip; claims

Limini
Not at her best this season but latest fourth at Gowran was better; claims at her best

Mia's Storm
Useful but more is needed and longer trip/better ground would be preferable; cheekpieces

Momella
Out-of-sorts effort last time at Christmas; even her peak form needs improving upon

Roksana
Needs career best to be involved but after only 6 starts hurdling she still has potential

Slowmotion
Entitled to be better for latest run but has quite a bit to find to be involved

Stormy Ireland
Useful form and a place is far from improbable but a win is probably beyond her

Betting without the top two

shortlist ...

Lady Buttons 4/1 ew
Mias Storm 11/1 ew
Stormy Ireland 7/2

Where is that mayo?

bet365 - what you think ?

First thought was Stormy Ireland is a cracking each way bet there based on his last run alone!

I'm on Benie at 3s, but will also be backing Limini W/O benie.

David Mullins a positive, and her last run also, has had a nice break since then + will be fine on softer ground.

Still can't have Stormy Ireland over trip and going.

Bit harsh on Stormy Ireland

2nd to Laurina over 2m4f last time out.... beat the others easy enough... no issue on the trip now she settles better.

Lifes harsh Kev :devilish:

2m4 on good ground will be a tad different to the 2m4 she'll encounter tomorrow. She might stay the trip better now, but for me she'll not be staying it the best of them. She's one of the classiest in the field, but very opposable for me.

Mullins tricast written all over it!

The "each way extra" tab is ridiculous with 365

8 places in the Mares - Stormy Ireland 4/1 at 1/4 the odds.:highly_amused:

Must be some good value in there...

Mia's Storm is 9/1 - we KNOW she stays further, so she can't be worse than 8th can she?!?!?

and that's a 9/1 ew poke?

Stormy Ireland is drifting out a bit... pushed out with PP too

I suppose much depends on how attritional conditions are tomorrow. It could be that jockeys might not be so willing to persevere with beaten horses, either those dropping off the front end or being left too far behind.

It's on record that they wanted good ground for Mia's Storm.

Yeah, that's a good point.

I've been looking at the m,arket for about an hour and not had a bet yet!

I know it's second best but I think Roksana has been largely overlooked in this race. I think she'll give Benie a real run for her money.

If anyone's betting in running.
Lady buttons will tank through the race and look the winner all over. Then find absolutely nothing off the bridle and fall in a hole.
She'll Likely trade short beforehand though.
