He also confirmed more recently (3 weeks ago?) in an Instagram message that the Arkle was the plan. Same Instagram that he said Soldier Reeves would be going down the Stayers route. I wish I knew how to put it up on here !Dan's Blog 24 April 2026
4.02 - Kabral Du Mathan
Then we have Kabral Du Mathan in the Select Hurdle. Again, this is another horse who has had a brilliant year - he looked like winning the Stayers' Hurdle at every point, basically, until he jumped the last at Cheltenham, and he just didn't quite get up the hill over three miles. This is a reduction in trip though, and I think it really suits him. He's got to carry a Class 1 penalty, but that's because he's won those races, so I'm not afraid of that. I think we'll go chasing next year, so this will probably be his last run over hurdles, and I think it's a suitable one to do just that in. The way he travels and jumps... this nicer ground should definitely be up his street.
Putting a wee nudge on this thread as we’re past the half way mark in June…
Not far off of my AP book, waiting on Apache Tribe to be priced by someone other than Unibet, Soldier Reeves I'm waiting until it has its first run as I've a thought it won't be too highly tried this season..There's a bunch of options in the Stayers Hurdle.
The New Lion looks a deffo runner. Wodhooh might step up in trip ? (maybe)
Zeus Power looks progressive.
Jimmy Du Seuill looks likely to run.
Soldier Reeves might be an improver to follow.
Apache Tribe is another interesting sort.
This is a really good and sound idea. We can spread ourselves too thin sometimes.….BANC selection confirmed, a few Arkle nominations. Is there particular races you’re focused on beyond BANC/Arkle?
Just mindful of Quevega’s suggestion of not being afraid to repeatedly base a number of selections on the same pool of horses. I know your steer was a couple with risk and a couple with more certain targets. His Yankee was;
Old Park Star (Ark) 9/2
Lossiemouth (CH) 3-1
Kargese (CC) 10-1
Gaelic Warrior (GC) 4-1
I've backed him and think he could be one to step up. Will definitely stay over Hurdles imo.I keep looking but I'm really struggling to find anything, apart from the one's we've already talked about. I've had a couple of quid on saratoga @ 33/1 for the champion hurdle so I'll tentatively nominate him.
He did seem to be improving with every run and he's got the all important Cheltenham form, obviously needs to improve plenty more but at the price i think he's worth a punt.I've backed him and think he could be one to step up. Will definitely stay over Hurdles imo.
I agree - it's hard to look past them. This year's CC winner still at a very respectable price taking into account how well he won the race and also followed up at Punchestown.
Lossiemouth very much the one to beat as we are all scraping around for dangers. There probably aren't any.
Gaelic was hugely impressive in the GC and much the same that applies to Lossiemouth also applies to him.
Proper spanner thrown inJust something to note
Metronomique is targeting the Champion Chase
