I like Banbridge myself, I suppose the risk is whether JoB keeps him for Aintree.

I’d be shocked if IEP stays over hurdles, he looks like he needs further than 2 miles after his Punchestown run. I don’t see Mullins wasting 2 bullets when he already has state man.

Yea I’d agree, the only way I can see it playing out that way is if Stateman doesn’t stay hurdling.

Although Mullins did toy with the idea of SM going over fences in 2022 early stable tours. I don’t think we have got any indication of that happening now.

Couldn’t have IEP for turners. He is the best 2m hurdler that Willie has. Will go champion hurdle IMO. Stateman will not beat CH. if we’re talking bullets, he’s a blank for Churdle. Anyway, Willie runs all his best in the race . Always has. He won’t rely on a single runner.
If you want a Willie horse for turners, why not champ kiely, who is definitely going chasing. Decent price, too.

ballyburn supreme. I think tullyhill and fact or file likely to go over longer
champ kiely turners. Will go chasing and turners or BANC probably target
teahupoo stayers. Definitely stays, probably ground dependant, but will be on the premises
dinoblue mares chase. Proper improver and probably stays. JP other good mare probably for Ryanair
come and have some thoughts. I’m thick skinned enough

I think The Real Whacker would go close in the Ryanair. I'm totally unconvinced for the Gold Cup though. He was tying up towards the line in the Brown Advisory, looking as though he was at the end of his stamina limitation. Gerry Colombe would beat him a fair distance over two furlongs further in my opinion. Is Gerri Colombe already in one of these as an alternative to Galopin?

If the Hunter Chase is being considered, I'd put up Rockys Howya. He should have been at least second to Premier Magic last season. being hampered certainly cost him second place. Only a seven year old, this years race and an extra year of experience won't be lost on him next March. He's also recently easily accounted for current 6/1 favourite It's On The Line, and is available at 14/1. Finally, unlike several of the selections so far in the yankees, he's certain to go for the race.

I’ve been focussed solely on Gerri Colombe for the Gold Cup to the exclusion of all other horses, at this point

His portfolio of three Grade 1 wins and a Nose 2nd in another Grade 1, is miles ahead of any mid-trip or staying novice chaser last season, and 7/1 for the Gold Cup for a horse only beaten once (by a nose) in his whole career, seems a very fair price (to me) for the Gold Cup.

I will add Galopin later on, no doubt, to more than cover any Gerri Colombe stakes, but for now, my main focus is on Gerri.

I’d back state man over IEP in a 2mile hurdle race. Willie won’t keep both of them hurdling especially if CH stays over hurdles as I expect him to and will kick on over fences with IEP imo. Champ Kiely doesn’t have the class of IEP he’s a nice horse but won’t dine at the top table.

Wouldn’t be strong on supreme as a destination for Ballyburn for the fact David Mullins said they see him as a future Gold Cup prospect. It was one of them million preview tours but he couldn’t hide the excitement they had for him and this was long before the debut run.

If that’s how the yard sees his future I can’t recall many other mullins gold cup stars coming by the Supreme path

Immediately after Punchestown win:

Anthony Bromley, racing representative of owners Isaac Souede and Simon Munir and the man who purchases most of their horses, intimated that while the five-year-old has the size to be a chaser, the move to larger obstacles might be put on hold while the education process continues.

“He was quite switched off in the race and Paul had to wind him up a little bit turning but he picked up,” noted Bromley.

“To be fair, some of his races haven’t always been impressive. In the Moscow Flyer (at Punchestown), he wasn’t ‘Wow,’ and that’s why they went up in trip. He just needs to be woken up. I think there’s so much talent under the bonnet and I think he’s still a work in progress.

“He’s a big frame of a horse. He only had one bumper run last year and that’s his fourth hurdle run. I think the plan might be to stay hurdling and learn a bit more. But, the great Willie will tell us. In Willie we trust!

….very persuasive case put forward by Saxon Warrior & Spectre for Gerri C inclusion. I know TRW inflicted that defeat at Cheltenham but the extra distance in the GC could be decisive given the way Gerri C finished.

My current thinking is we leave the Hunter Chase alone for now given only a few firms have it priced up and we’ve had an early pop at one already.

Still, we have plenty of time to debate as we only tick into July tomorrow.

To me, it sounded like chasing became more likely after Punchestown with Willie's comments (not overly enamoured with the way he ran potentially meaning he's less convinced he's a Champion Hurdle horse?) but I'm very comfortable stating there might be an element of hopeful bias there and I didn't know hurdling was the plan initially anyway.

These were Mullins RP comments post-Punchestown. I know chasing was mentioned somewhere but couldn't find it.

“Would you have backed him turning in? Me neither,” Mullins said.

He added: “He didn't impress me at all. I'm delighted he won, and by so far, but during the race he was not impressing me. He didn't look like he was enjoying it and maybe Cheltenham took much more out of him than we thought. At home he was on fire, and maybe I did too much with him because he was doing so well.

“I know it's hard to say something was wrong when he won by that much. He loved the hill at Cheltenham so much, he really got going, and maybe on this flatter track he was not as effective. I'll have a good chat with Paul about it, but he has a huge engine to win despite not looking like he was enjoying himself. We were thinking of going to France with him but we might have to think again about that.”

Afternoon all. Firstly - thanks to Eggs for his help and effort with these. It is much appreciated knowing they’re in safe hands. As for me, I’m looking to be back for the August Yankee in a month. Basically when I’m in a not-great headspace, I can spiral over a few weeks/months if I don’t tackle it early. One of the things I’ve done in that time without realising in the past was gamble ever so slightly more amongst other vices. The betting itself wasn’t a problem but more about the time I was taking to try to distract myself which ultimately does nothing to improve my situation.

Hence deciding for a bit of a break to sort things. Have quite literally, Ascot and Epsom asides (and the odd cricket bet), not had a punt at all and more importantly not spent time burying my head in the sand studying form but trying to work on me. Sorted some home and work stuff out which was necessary and also just came back from 2 weeks in Manchester with my best friend who knows how to be with me things aren’t great. Am also off to Scotland at the end of this month with her family camping.

All in all, feeling a lot more content than six weeks ago. Feels like I’ve been in preventative mode to stop any chance of going downhill in the coming months (as some of you may remember from a few years ago) and it is working. Thanks for the messages as well on here and in the real world. Very much appreciated. Onwards and upwards and I’ll see you all in a few weeks. MOM.

If I were to have an antepost bet on IEP, it’d be for champion hurdle. Plans can change, but I’d never knowingly tuck anyone away. That’s all I have to say on the subject, but I won’t comment anymore, as I don’t wish this to be another dysart Dynamo going for the supreme tennis game.

…which is exactly what we want in filtering out 4 potential winners. We all know the perils of ante-post and any information posters can provide is a welcome bonus.

I think at the prices for the Turners, IEP is not worth risking at this point.
