Irish Grand National - Monday 5 April 2021

Do we think Jordan Gainford will be jocked up on Coko Beach?

Sempo is a nuts price now

I had him down as a lively outsider to back e/w at a price on the day but that plan is firmly out the window

Hes not the greatest jumper and has only ever raced over 3 miles or further once when well beaten in the bartlett

If latest exhibition, run wild fred, longhouse poet, tiger roll and coko beach etc all line up surely he will drift on the day

It's a bonkers price and I don't understand it either. What are we missing?:hopelessness:

Watch his races back, he's a 2m5+ horse having been brought back down to 2m his last two starts and essentially hunted round and finishing well as expected.

They've messed about with him, back right handed he's well handicapped. I wouldn't be shocked if he's a 150 horse over fences.

Issue being Joey has a horrid record in staying chases in Ireland; Class 1/2 handicap chases, 3m+, he’s now 0/66, 6p. In all C1/2 chases over 3m+ at C1/2 level, 1/84,8p… 0/28,5p sent off 10/1< SP.

Price has gone for me, as i didn't expect them to pitch him in here, i thought a novice handicap chase would be the aim. Aiming high.

I've followed him all season having backed him in the AB last season.

Like you, I thought he might have popped up in a Novice Chase at some point but he's hardly looked a natural over fences to me.

The weight rise is pleasing. Half the field carry 11st or more which is historically quite difficult. The only winners to do that this century were G1 animals..

Rachael rides Robin De Carlow.

Archie, lovely booking. Slightly frustrating the books are mostly 4 places atm

On the weight issue, i really think this year is a year where there are many more novices in there with a possible improvement.

Atlantic Shore, Jerrysback, and Roaring Bull are the only ones to satisfy the main trends I think.

Since the increase in prize money lightly raced novices are starting to dominate the race

3 of the last 4 won by novices

Id be focusing on those myself

Latest exhibition
Run wild fred
Coko beach

Is my shortlist atm

Backed RWF ante post and will add one of the others depending on price

I can see latest exhibition going off a well backed 3/1-7/2 so be interesting to see what the early prices are

Not sure what price she'll be on the day, but with Blackmore on you'd think she'll be a little shorter?

Betfred at 40s 6places if you want your owners bet they are probably best at the moment.

Cheers, Jack. I don't usually back my own horses as I get enough of a kick from seeing them run.

We've had no word since declaration but it's easy to see how she could be well handicapped. It's a big ask after so long out but she's usually dropped out and hunted round so Rachael doesn't need to give her a hard race if she senses that she's getting tired.

You''d imagine since she's been entered up a few times now since early March she'd be fit enough given who trains her. Mind you 3m5 is a different kettle of fish.

I'd be shocked if she's not half the 40s on offer at the very least.

Getting chopped across the board.

Incredibly well handicapped on the form with Kettle but the distance has to be a massive issue ? Rachel's booking is very eye-catching though. I can see why there's money for her.

RWF my main dart in this & was my only antepost bet; latest exhibition a bit of a wild card was surprised to see him in here think he’ll really appreciate the quicker ground, backed him this morning. Fitzhenry & Ten Ten are my two ‘lively outsiders’ and I’ll probably back with extra places on the day

Sky and Betfred, Paddy are 7 and 6 places already.

Opposites Attract my dart here.

Disappointed in December when a well beaten 4th behind Longhouse Poet, RWF and the Big Dog having gone off favourite.

Finished ahead of the former two and 2.5L behind Latest Exhibition off level weights last October. Hoping there's more to come from him.

Plumbed for Brace Yourself e/w at 25/1

He showed plenty of promise in bumpers before injury blighted him for a season. Has slowly been coming to hand for Noel this year. Only finished 7l down on Latest Exhibition off levels albeit when the top weight failed to fire at Punchestown. He's got over a stone swing on the fav on Monday & had a lovely prep over course & distance LTO! Has form on better ground & just felt he was the value shout in an obviously competitive field.

He was taking my eye too Shergar but decided to take a chance on Brace Yourself!
