Ground of the festival?

They still haven't cut it. No idea how much it would take. everybody else has. That was my try anyway.

Of course if you have the liquidity you might be able to lay some of your stake on betfair at the same price, and essentially win that amount when he is settled as a non-runner with Bet365. And if the miraculous does happen and he switches and wins you'll still get your money back.

I dont have that sort of liquidity I'm afraid. I wouldn't be one for arbing anyway tbh.
But I see your case. :)

If he miraculously ran which he won't. I'm more than happy to let it run.
 
It'd be great if they do offer any sort of cash out for profit.

Will definitely change my approach next year to some horses.
 
Just had a look at the course from the far side. All of the snow on the main hurdles and chase tracks has gone but there is some drifted snow up against obstacles, particularly on the cross country course. They may be working to move some of this - mechanical equipment working but too far away for me to see exactly what they were doing.

Just having a little think about the ground..... are we all really SO keen to have Good to Soft ground?

For anyone on the "bankers"....

Getabird's most impressive win was over Mengli Khan is Sft/Hvy (and better ground would suit others more).... looks like Getabird stays further so 2m in soft would be right up his street?

Footpad clearly has better form on soft ground... the "good" ground has been mooted as a negative for him, so soft ground might be perfect for him too (small caveat that it looks like Saint Calvados is in need of soft ground and therefore could be a BIGGER threat on soft... but that doesn;t bother me for obvious reasons ;))

Buveur D'air Henderson has ALWAYS maintained he wouldn't want quick ground. BVD is looking solid as a rock anyway but soft ground certainly will be to his benefit!

Apple's JAde Looks like she handles any...but her most impressive 4yo performance was reversing the Chelt form with Ivanovic Gorbatov on soft at Aintree by 41L... she won of GS at the festival last year but was off the bridle before Limini and VVM and stayed on strongest... which the soft would help her with... This season she's only run of soft but looks perfectly comfortable on it as she's 3 from 3!

I've been wanting the ground to dry out.... not really sure why though anymore....

I would be very happy with Good to soft, soft in plsces for the first day and then for it to be Good to soft all round for the next 3 days to enhance Might Bites claims :highly_amused:
 
Agreed!!

Weirdly I’ve found myself wanting Good to Soft, Soft in places which suits most of my selections. I think the one who would suffer from soft ground would Might Bite but happy to go into Day 4 having been on the right side of my current bets and then make a decision on Feb Gold Cup

My best bet of the week, and the one I’m going heavy with, is Sam Spinner. I’ve taken the price and expect it to come in if ground starts to turn soft

I’d take Good-soft, soft in places, and then it drying up a little into GC day
 
I won t be backing it. But far too much has been made of the weather this far out. Long odds on for me that it will be good ground by the Thursday
 
What was the rainfall / precipitation level prior to the last meeting at Cheltenham when it was called heavy going? I've had a look at the available quotes from Simon Claisse and from what he has said it would equate to about 30mm of water falling on Cheltenham in the weeks leading into the festival.
