Vanillier the only horse I've backed in the race.

As was discussed above it looks a disappointing renewal with no real classy new comers - which was always likely when it returned to being a handicap.

Placed last year after going the wrong way and losing loads of ground. Suspect this is the target? And will likely get a couple of lb off for his efforts so far this year, which haven't been without positives.

He'll be virtually bottom weight based on above.

I was using Vanillier more as an example than anything. Agree, Final Orders looked impressive last time out - although wouldn’t have Keith Donoghue onboard in March who must be worth several pounds around Cheltenham.

Your point about Stumptown putting horses out the handicap is a good one. Using the Dec meeting as an example, only Amirite (out of the 14 runners) wouldn’t have been running out of the handicap. Likely to get a better field at the festival but will impact some of the lesser lights for sure.
Just as a further consideration around the handicap - introduced last week by the BHA, there is now a rule where horses cannot compete in a handicap if they are out of the handicap by 15lb

Just had a look at sixandahalf and noticed conor stone walsh jocked up on her at Leop, down to 136 in ireland, surely they might be thinking of popping her towards the Martin pipe with Conor on board, generally 40s available.

Does it count as a qualifying run towards a handicap race if you're dec'd for a race, and the meeting is abandoned?

I remember that being the case for something but I think it was the Pertemps - any Pertemps race entries were given automatic qualification

Sad news that Langer Dan has died, either a hero to his supporters or a thorn in the side to some.
Skelton said there’s a very small chance he might make the Coral Cup.
😂
Great Festival memories made with Langer.

Temperature improves to at least + degrees after 9am with a bit of sunshine too. Real feel of -5 though. I'd say it will be touch and go there. Hope they get it on, want to see Karoline Banbou again

Does anybody know if the Pertemps Qualifier being abandond at Warwick, means all the declared runners are now qualified for the Festival race , i'm sure that used to be the case but not sure now

Why did Kalif take off so so far away from the fence 🙈 :(
Going a stride slower than he's used too as he was up in trip,so he felt like he was full of running...would be the reason I'd suggest, unfortunate for the horse.

Not sure, Cobden had his got a breather into him but he had been jumping absolutely fine up to that point.

Just looked wildly early to me compared to the rest of his takeoffs.

Any reason for such a big price, came like a train late on after an early mistake in the race last year, i would have thought he would be alot shorter in price
