A place will be fine, wouldn't want him winning too far if he did end up winning. Got it all to do giving that amount of weight today though, he's not the biggest horse in the world, that's for sure.

Happy enough with that. Hoping they've left plenty to work on and perfect prep race really. Jumped great again.

Yeah, get a pound or two maybe for that.

Did jump well again, considering the weight he was carrying.

Be one of the lower weights in the Ultima too, would expect him to lead as well.

The Ultima is one race I like to get stuck into early. Have done for a fair few years now, and it's ultimately paid off.

I think, in recent seasons there has been a certain profile required to win or go close in the race (watch it not happen this season now :highly_amused:), yet there seems to still be this urge to find something outside the obvious.

I see you mentioned Hyland, in another thread, he's 20/1, that's fair for a horse who got as close as he did to the 2nd fav of the BANC. I think he fits a fair few of them trends too. He made just need better ground though.

There are a few others in and around as well, although they don't hit all the trends, they hit most of the top ones. Leave it for another month and those 16/1-20/1 shots become 10-12/1 shots, from my own experience.

A little wary of the trends this year for Ultima and Kim Muir with the changes to the Turners and more significantly the NH Chase becoming handicaps. Think we could see a fair few novices going for the latter race this year when previously would of gone one of the two handicaps.

They have stated they are hoping to get in this years Grand National.
He was trying to win today.
The risk for the Ultima now is that he takes in another race before National weights day.
Hopefully they target the Ultima now and sack off the National for this year as I've just backed at 25's

He does jump accurately doesn't he. Reckon today sets him up very nicely for Ultima on 11th March. Is he sure to get in off 139 ? Last year there was a 134 but next lowest was 139. Does he need to up a couple of lbs to be sure of getting in ?

Yes I like Hyland and although ground might be an issue price might be worth the risk. My main point though was that the bookies top priced horses need to be reviewed carefully as they contain a high % of non runners ultimately (no pun intended). I agree though that getting the right horse now is a legitimate objective.

Now on the drift. I wonder what race the owners are planning to target? 3m handicap chase. Mmmmm.

Might not be betting on him. Probably just happy with the winning prize money and after party.

Not sure where Willie buys his hoods from but makes them look like Bulls.
Ruby warbled on about it with Salvator and how uncomfortable he looked, and now Kargese has done exactly the same.
Hoods are meant to calm them not annoy them.

Arteta blamed the balls the other day :biggrin-new:

Anyone seen a market up for top trainer at the festival? Would just be interested to see the price on Henderson. Constitution Hill, Sir Gino Lulamba, Jonbon, Lucky Place, probably a handicapper with a chance somewhere too

….PP have a market. Henderson is 7-1 (Mullins 1-6).
