General Chat

Just watching darts, and can see Raymond Van Barneveld's hair transplant/tattoo effort is still bedding in from this time last year.

What is it about the rest of his appearance and general attractiveness and physique that leads him to believe it's worth the effort ?

It's like John Merrick having a nose job.
Baffling he got a hair transplant just to have a shaved head.

If Fact To File wins the King George and inothewayurthinkin disappoints again, what happens?

Ooh. Don’t go there!! I’ve just done a covering trixie
MN queen mum
Majborough Ryanair
F2F gold cup
I had him down at the beginning of the season as a Gold Cup horse this year. It's a pandora's box i know but if Inothewayurthinkin underperforms again, is JP going to take that chance of hoping that he peaks again? It might have been a one off. I don't agree when people say F2F doesn't get 3 miles. I think he get's it fine. He was going up against Galopin whop ran the race out of him twice. The likelihood is that he is probably going past the stage of being able to bully the other horses into submission now.

My honest opinion, i think Fact To File Gold Cup is about 50/50. If he wins next week and INTWYT doesn't, that increases a lot.

Inothewayurthinking isn't going to be tuned up apart from one day and that's in march, fact to file won't get 3m2f at Cheltenham. Look at his petrol ran out in those 3m Irish chases last season
I was literally thinking this last night I’m bed 😂😂. Though would be scared that they could give it a go with FTF (hopefully not this year) especially if Gaelic doesn’t impress at kempton.

Anyone who's determined enough to try and guess the JP runners at the festival at this stage should definitely factor in Jonbon for the Ryanair. IMO
Not that I fancy him but apart from Inothwayurthinkin going Gold cup I'd say Jonbon going Ryanair is the next best in terms of likelihood.
Majborough would have to be poor again to not go for the Champion chase, but it's possible he is poor again on his last showing. I expect going left handed will help his cause though.
And the risk with Fact to File is down to how he performs at xmas, if he wins or goes very close in either race at xmas then the gold cup is a possibility for sure.
Then all it takes is one injury and it may change again.

Thought that myself about Jonbon. JP wants the Champion Chase in his locker. Majborough is by far his best shot at it.

I'd actually probably still think jonbon will end up in the champion chase myself. I get the impression from years gone past that Henderson himself doesn't give a toss about the Ryanair, he never really runs anything of note in it unless he feels there's really no other choice at the time. It's definitely very rare for him to ever target anything at it.

The way I see it is fact to file went to the Ryanair last year despite running well over 3m, because they didn't think they could beat galopin over even further. Inothewayurthinkin happened to be good enough to win the gold cup for them anyway, and fact to file won the Ryanair, so is there really any reason to change? If fact to file wins the king George, that still doesn't prove he'll stay the gold cup trip. If inothewayurthinkin doesn't win the savills, but runs respectably and places, wouldn't they just think that's exactly what he did last year, before going on to win the gold cup. I also can't remember too many cases of a horse winning an open grade one at the festival as impressively as fact to file last year, and then going for a different race the following year. As we've seen with Allaho, mullins will be happy enough to keep mopping up Ryanairs, with galopin still in the gold cup picture for him along with others, the only question is would mcmanus go along with that. As long as inothewayurthinkin is at least on par with what he was before last year's gold cup, I'd say he'd go along with mullins.

In the event thats true, I'd guess he'd rather have two darts at the champion chase with jonbon and Malborough, than add jonbon into the Ryanair for a second dart in that, and I think Henderson would happily agree. I'd still give jonbon a decent chance in the champion chase. Leau du suds shorter than him, despite them turning the form around to even the score. Il etait temps like jonbon is still to show his best at Cheltenham. There will still be question marks about Malborough jumping even if he wins at Xmas. He'd still be in the mix so I think they could just give him another go at it.

It'll not be Hendersons choice though.
The JP team will slot them in accordingly just before the festival, although they will as per usual not multi enter as much as some others do.
I agree with most of the rest of what you say, and it will all obviously depend on results and performances of JP's horse in question and to a lesser extent the make up of the races themselves and other horses Mullins may have to fire at the championship races.

If the rest of what i think is most likely to happen, does actually happen, then I think it would make most sense for mcmanus to prefer jonbon in the champion chase too though. Was just saying I think Henderson would prefer that too, not that its likely of huge importance to the final decision.

I’m not sure Hendo would prefer Jonbon in the Champion Chase now.
He knows he’s on the wane as far as 2m top races go.
He’s stepped him up before and they know he stays further well.
I think he will try and get the horse his best chance of a festival victory this last shot at it,and try and convince JP that he should go Ryanair.

….Let it Rain supported for the County ahead of her run today, into a best 16-1.

Anthony Joshua to beat Jake Paul by decision might be a bit overpriced imo. I've backed it on the exchange at 7.8

The general consensus is that if the fight isn't rigged then Joshua will knock him out quickly, and the odds of a win by knockout are 1.28, but that's still a lot bigger than it would be if people could be sure Joshua is treating the fight the same as any other, but that's not a given.

The way I think about this fight is that it's a bit like me getting into a boxing ring for a big payday with a bloke in his 50s or 60s who's also smaller and weaker than me. I would know he's not a threat to me, and can't really hurt me, so I wouldn't be going all out to pummel him and put him in hospital. If Anthony Joshua has a similar mindset, he knows Jake Paul is no threat to him in a boxing ring, and his attitude to the fight in the whole build up has reflected that, he has been very relaxed and jovial and obviously doesn't take Jake Paul seriously at all. Does he really want to be remembered as the guy who put a bad beating on a YouTuber and possibly seriously injure him, in a fight that people would then say should never have happened? As opposed to just outclassing him and jabbing the face off him for 12 rounds and collecting his paycheck?

I think the likelihood of a points decision is bigger than the odds suggest for that reason. You could also back Joshua for an early knockout as a cover for the main bet, it's 2.38 for a knockout in round 1-2. If he does take it seriously and go all out to finish it quickly.
