I’ve only had welfare checks on pick ups.
Welfare check ?………do they ask you if YOU can afford it for THEM to pay you YOUR winnings 🤪

Do the staff put on a white coat and rubber gloves before undertaking this welfare check? Take your temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate etc ?😂

I wonder if it says in their T&C’s that we may ask you intrusive personal information before paying you out your winnings? (I will check next time I visit a betting shop) Would they withhold your winnings if you decided to not tell them personal information or just say no more bets accepted?

It hasn’t happened to me yet, so would be good to know what to expect 😬

….Skelton’s SL stable tour in stable tour thread, a bit more extensive than the ATR version.

I have friends who work for Fred and they have never been overly forceful in carrying out formal checks, only a quiet word if an out of character loss came about. I use corals, whilst there are limits which trigger checks, these are seem to be only on loyalty card holders (never use them!!). They’ve watched me win and lose over a thousand in a day a few times this year (terminals and over counter) without so much as a word, though a tip everyone and again hopefully keeps it that way. Over my dead body am I complying with doc requests!!….the end is near I fear.

further changes planned/being discussed.

talking with the group I go with it would change the whole 'schools out' feel of a mid week festival. feels a bit of a desperation move as the gold cup day is well attended which would be the Saturday and doesn't change any of the fundamentals around cost of tickets/hotels which is what I believe is really what is putting people off.

Then a few times since in Harrogate and Knaresborough shops. Only on pay out!!

Harrogate and Knaresborough. Fond memories. My nan used to live on the border. Used to love visiting. A nice part of the country, i carried on exploring over there as i got older and she moved back to Wigan. Found Fountains Abbey in Ripon and have been about 5 times since :D I remember queuing outside Betty's tea rooms for about an hour to get a brew

I don't think it would be instant. They would put a date on it in the future. Probably after the Grand National. That is the day you can guarantee shops are busy all over the country. If they did, i wouldn't worry. The bets are placed and they have a legal obligation to pay out, there will be some way of collecting.
True, I think it’s his quote that ALL the shops could close that alarmed me. I was confident that there would be still be some shops in the bigger towns/ cities I could collect any winnings.
I agree it is more likely it would happen after the festival but it’s put me off placing anymore cash bets for the time being.
I do use the Bookies Apps as well but I’m trying to cut down my Bank deposits into them ahead of renewing my mortgage.
The other bookies where I live is Coral, I’ve been to get a rewards card just so I can top it up with cash and link it to my App.

@Cheltmass Do not get or use the reward cards for shop use!!
Bugger! My idea was to use it to top up my Coral App account with cash rather than direct from my Bank Account.
Does anyone know how far back Mortgage checks look at Bank Statements? I’m only a small stakes punter but don’t want an interrogation when I have to remortgage next year.

3 months usually.

Easiest thing to do is open a second current account and use it solely for gambling funds. Banks are only interested in the account your wages go into.

I use Paypal as the intermediary. Just shows up on your bank statement as a payment to Paypal. And the bank has never asked to see my Paypal statement.
