Fox Hunters Chase 2018

Can’t argue with that FM! Don’t fancy him all that much to be honest, but 33’s surely too big so had a small ew interest.

Agreed. He's such a good jumper that the jockey might not matter until after last.

He could be a horse who'll be a huge price on the exchanges and I'll probably have a few quid on just before the off.

Not sure. Think Wonderful Charm could well go off fav myself. But even if he hasn’t it will still be too big.

I think its a good bet. They really do fancy this fav. Nearly everyone I talk too mentions BA as the bet of the festival???

Just can’t see it myself doctor. He’s got a decent chance clearly, but I just don’t see any reason why he deserves to be a hot fav. Only decent race he’s run in was last time and he came up short. Didn’t look to get home to me either and the extra distance and the Cheltenham hill don’t look ideal for him.

More hype than substance for me.

I haven't got anything (except Nichols 5/1) for this race. They quote the Gilgamboa form.

If Gilgamboa was able to run in this, he’d be a short priced favourite and the classiest entry this race has had. The fact that BA ought to have beat him but for some hesistant riding and the ground not suiting him too, BA is deserving favourite.

He’s an improving hunter who could be better than this race in time. Everything else is at the end of their careers and on the downgrade.

If it wasn't for OTF last year Wonderful Charm would have went off a hot Fav, he has course form just beaten under a poor ride and running well winning his last warm up race for this, so I would pick WC over BA as BA has too prove himself up that hill and I could see them coming in again for WC and that going off Fav.. IMO

BA certainly looks like a great plot. And yes, he's still unexposed.

I’m not sure he qualifies as a ‘plot’ does he?!

But good luck. We all see it differently which is what makes for healthy debate :)

I can't see what was hesitant about the ride. He produced the horse to win and he didn't. I think he was at pains to produce him as late as possible so connections can't be entirely sure about his stamina. Seems likely we will see a Salsify type ride so will need luck in running as well.

Unioniste
David Maxwell, winning jockey and owner, said: "He jumps like a buck. He will go to the Foxhunter now at Cheltenham. I think he is pretty much the only one I have qualified.

"He is a lovely horse. Mine are usually 40-1 or 50-1 chances at the Festival. He will be a nice each-way bet."

Nice quote if your a WC fan...

Paul Nicholls reckons his best chance at the Cheltenham Festival will be in the St James's Place Foxhunter Chase, the race which supplied his only victory at last year's meeting.

trainer believes Wonderful Charm, who will be ridden by Gold Cup-winning amateur Sam Waley-Cohen after his father Robert bought a share in the horse, offers his best route to the winner's podium.

"Wonderful Charm has a massive chance," said Nicholls during an event hosted by his sponsor the Morson Group at his Ditcheat yard on Monday.

Great to hear. One of my biggest winners of the week :very_drunk:

(That was to the Wonderful Charm post!)

MoM will be pleased.

No doubt its a big booking and statement of intent.

10/3 now?

If you're not already on... how does that price look?

I have a feeling this news will divide opinion... people who are on, think he wins, people who aren't think he is crazy short... with no-one in the middle?

I don't know how many rides but Codd has never won the race. So the idea of whatever he rides wins has never worked before.
