I have to put up UDS, i love this horse and still 5/6 lbs clear on ratings. i think he wins ryanair imo

Ratings are based on completed runs, they don't take into consideration the potential for jumping errors.
I thought they'd keep him over hurdles to be honest, plenty of big prizes over here and in France in that sphere.
Irish have a shocking record in this race and only won it last year because the horse that should have won the Gold Cup ran in the wrong race but if I was going to back an Irish horse it would probably be Empire of Dirt.
Uxizandre is definitely of interest of the UK challengers....

I like EoD because of the C&D win last year, and that the owners are desperate to win it. It WILL happen soon enough. Don Cossack should have won it.

I too would also be happy with Uxiandre .... waatching AP McCoy film last night, you forget how easily he won that race!

Agreed, i think my heart rules my head on this one for sure. I do agree that Uxizandre is of interest. but for 1 race out of the many i will happily let my heart rule for this one.

So excited to see the final yankee, love a good multiple MTOY has some tough decisions ahead with all suggestions having a good case for the selection

The Irish calendar is geared around min trips and staying trips, there aren't a heap of big prizes for intermediate trips which is why horses are trained for 2m or 3m (or further), so no wonder they aren't primed to win this race.

Bit like bumpers, years ago the Irish had 8 bumpers at the Punch festival, there were barely 8 bumpers in the entire UK calender when the race was created at the Chelt festival so no shock to see them dominate for years, the focus shifts over here and now we hold our own...

Are you sure on this one Ista?

All 6 winners of the JLT are Irish trained?

Early selections:

JLT - Yorkhill
Ryanair - Uxizandre
Stayers - Unowhatimeanharry
Mares Novice - Airlie Beach

One horse who was tanking when unseating in last years Kim Muir was Top Wood.
Not entirely sure what's happened to the horse this year but he's been a shadow of the form that took him to a rating of 144, gained from a win just before Cheltenham last year (where he was able to run 7lb 'well in') and a great run until coming unstuck 2 out in this race.
He now runs off just 131 which equates to 10st 8lb, Pipe know what it takes to win this having saddled Junior and the Package in the last six years.
We know jockey bookings are everything in this and I don't recall seeing anything that will indicate who partners this one, but, 50/1 NRNB is an insult to a horse who would have been a short price approaching 2 out in last years renewal....

Just watched that race back Ista. Absolutely right.

You can well imagine that've been planning a way back after the fall ?

Only a few days left before these need to finalised fellas....

I'll give an honourable mention to Southfield Royale in the Kim Muir.

Diamond King in the Plate

This day looks one of the toughest to find value in 4 races. Hats off for Tenty for taking this day.

I would second Diamond King although at a bigger price Sutton Manor looks very interesting

Disko (JLT) @ 5's
Uxizandre (Ryanair) @ 6's
Cole Harden (Stayers) @ 8's (Or Ballyoptic @ 16's - Wind op!)
La Bague Au Roi (Mares NH) @ 5's

(Nothing Ground Breaking, but you don't necessarily need to attack the 3 handicaps)

Theres the potential for a few shorties on the Thursday. My 4 would be a win yankee as follows

Yorkhill (Some mixed opinions I know)
UNWIMH
Diamond King
Whichever Mullins hotpot goes in the mares novices
