Hello Fat Jockeys,

As plenty of you know, we have a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Overall Fat Jockey Yankee each year for the festival, that we have captains for, that pick the final selections for THE WHOLE FORUM to back for the 5 yankee's in pretty colours above. :)

That means we need 5 captains.:cheerful:

As ever, we have Middle_Of_March running the monthly yankee's, but these don't affect the above - his yankee threads still need lots of love and attention.

The deadline for the all the yankee's to be decided is usually the Sunday before (will be 13th March 2021). This is to allow people to see them, back them and still be able to live their life, as it is just a bit of fun :D

However, the captains need to be in place, and it's around this time each year we start to decide....

Traditionally, it is an honour bestowed to "new" members, that have signed up in the last 12 months. I see no reason to abandon that this year, as for one, the quality of new members we have can't have ever been higher! (apart from the year jono and I signed up which is incredible :strawberry: #ClassOf2016

This is a bit of fun, for us to all work 'together' to find a profitable yankee each day and one that is over all 4 days, with the captain in control of what the final selections are.... the idea being ALL OF US have a go at them, for min stakes.....

So, who would like to put themselves forward to be a Fat Captain for 2021?

If you would like to nominate someone, please do.....

Hats in the ring...............:indecisiveness:

You know we're close when this thread pops up... :triumphant:

This sounds awesome :encouragement:

Not entirely sure it would be something he would want to do, but given his amazing juvenile knowledge I think Kotkijet at least deserves a nomination for Triumph day?

My first thought too. :encouragement:

Surely Kotkijet has to come up with the tri-cast for the triumph, or at least 4 that we can perm.
And for good measure the Boodles as well, :encouragement:

I nominate EnvoyAllen :applause:

or maybe he could captain one for 2022,
a pre-festival antepost yankee for 2022. :encouragement:

Whilst I’m ‘honoured’ Mr Quevega by your kindness, I would genuinely feel a complete fraudster offering up (this time next year) Shishkin at a price of around 6/4 for the Queen Mother, Envoi Allen at a price of around 7/2 (or Monkfish at a reasonably similiar price) when I already feel I’ve done enough conscientious ‘homework’ for next year and taken prices 5x their potential sp’s on the day.

Of course, there’s every chance I’m wrong, but if Shishkin is sitting at anything more than 2’s by the end of Jan next year, I’d be quietly surprised.

And I’d much rather tip up a horse at 14’s, than say 2’s.

Wonderful idea from Kev though.

Are you saying that the only horses you could possibly select are just the three mentioned, I know you generally only mention the 2 most of the time.

But surely someone as astute as you with the longer term betting can see something amongst all the current horses heading to the festival that are likely to be big players next year, at the next level or discipline.

Or are you just going to back the 2 horses till the death ?

Would be a test of your early judgement of future superstars/short priced Favourites for the year following this.

....shortly after the festival, Hills normally allow a/r multiples. That could be a decent discussion for a Yankee.

At this present time Mr Quevega, I’m just (or have been) focusing my attention on the two horses that I believe are more advanced than their contemporaries, as opposed to ‘being a little bit better’, for want of better terminology.

I believe if Shishkin was running in the Champion Chase in less than 7 weeks time, he’d have a very good opportunity, and I wouldn’t have him anything more than 5/2 for victory.

Envoi Allen is the conundrum none of us know about, punter nor bookie. Will he stay the 3m 2f? Would he be good enough for a Gold Cup this year?

Only Gordon might know. He might even know now as we speak.

The only reason they run a novice year is for ‘practice’ as such.

Do I have any eyes on other horses I feel as I type these words could go very well in little over 13 months time? Of course I have an inkling. But then, I’m sure we all do. I’d hope so.

I wouldn't hang on that Eggs, they did last year then removed that facility in April so no guarantee they'll do that again.
In fact the way they're behaving they may not even be around for much longer...

Surly one must go to the winner of DG's tipping contest?

Yes, I had forgotten that had been mentioned previously actually.

Winner of that, get's to be the 'overall' captain.

Good suggestions so far....

I would like to nominate Spectre

Only joined in June, but has a very measured and well-thought out approach, along with being very-knowledgeable...

Perfect for a Yankee Captain :victorious:

2nd this. Was trying to find when he joined, that answers my question.
