ELEGANT ESCAPE 2019/2020 - The Road To Gold Cup glory.

He could go to the Ladbrokes that has always been on the card and haydock turned good/sft yesterday. If its good ground then I think Newbury looks liklier but I still dont belive Joe. I wouldnt consider a bet in the Ladbroke yet unless its confirmed he goes there.

There are positives from going to Newbury as it gives him an extra 7 days to recover from his comeback run and they may get softer ground. Had Joe used these reasons as to why he may go to Newbury then it could be believable but the reasons given by Joe make the story look like just the tizzards latest media exercise.

Just 4 runners for Betfair Chase. The champ goes to Newbury. Perhaps the correct call by the Tizzards as the Champ bounced 2nd time up when only 2nd in the Ladbrokes last year after a 20 day gap between 1st and 2nd run.
The extra 8 days he has to prepare for the Ladbrokes should ensure no bounce happens this year.
Ballyoptic looks the bet for the Betfair Chase now though he wont be at all popular so may drift out a bit on the day so will hold bets on him for now.

The road to Gold Cup Glory remains perfectly on track.

This is probably thr best move for EE as there is no reason to send him to the king george now. If he won the betfair chase then they would have felt obliged to go and that wouldnt have helped his gold cup preparation.

Do you think he can overcome the weight in the ladbrokes trophy ET? Looks the class horse but there are some decent sorts on featherweights entered.

I think he is the gold cup winner. That should answer the question.

Only Bob Worth and Denman were able to defy 160 in this race in recent times.

The Champ will do an Arkle. Placed in the Hennesey and then returned 1 year later to win it.

20/1 ew 1/4 odds 4 places

ELEGANT ESCAPE

Am also on KILDISART at the same price though I placed that bet before I knew The Legend was coming.

Sounds like you've had a bung from Corals. :devilish:
Joe's the man.

I'm not having a bet but, genuinely, good luck.

I have always been fully aware that the Ladbrokes was a possibility, the drying ground has probably made them do this but there are positives such as the extra week to avoid the bounce.

I think winning the Hennesey off top weight and a mark of 160 is equal to winning the grade 1 betfair chase perhaps superior.

The Tizzards will look pretty silly if Ballyoptic wins the Betfair chase which has a fair chance of happening but at least this way it should mean the king george is avoided so Im happy long term in terms of the gold cup as the king george would have been the qrong route. Slightly annoying that have lost my betfair chase bet but it is as it is and thats antepost betting.

Great price on ballyoptic here though Frodon becomes more dangerous if good is in the going description. I may yet back them both now the champ is out but will probably wait til the day.

Rumour is that there's a virus in Pauling's yard (source - another forum). Certainly a paucity of entries. Anyone on Kildisart might want to consider their options.

Thanks for the tip off just looked into that and it does appear there could be a problem. I will cash out if it allows me to.

Tizzard yard appear to be running into form now. 4 wins, 2 placed and 1 unplaced from last 7.

It will be a travesty if Ballyoptic wins tomorrow. Major mistake by the Tizzards not running the champ here.

Have backed EE at 20's for Ladbroke. He is without doubt the class horse in the race and has proved he can carry big weights in handicaps. The race doesn't look as good as last year's so he has a chance to go one better. I think if he is declared then the 20's will look huge and he will go off close to fav.

I think its a harder race than the Betfair Chase to carrytop weight off 160 against up and coming potentially well handicapped horses in a big field but I think he will do it.
He ultimately needs to be Gold cup winner class to do i which I believe he is.

The 20/1 will disappear tomorrow if Ballyoptic wins the betfair chase.

Ballyoptic didnt run anywhere near to the level he ran in the Charlie Hall chase, he recorded an rpr of just 133 in the betfair chase compared to 167 at Wetherby.
So him running so below form doesnt in any way weaken the form of the Charlie Hall or effect The Legend.

The team are predicting that The Champ will put in a superior performance to Lostintranslation when winning the Ladbrokes trophy on Saturday.

Hope to see the champ go International and race in the Lexus after Newbury and then straight to Cheltenham.

Only 17 runners in front of The Champ on oddschecker for the 'Mission Impossible' to win the Ladbrokes Trophy carrying 11-12 with a rating of 160.
An incredible 9lb above his Welsh National winning mark. 5lb higher than his mark in this last year and he was beat almost 10 lengths.

If the Champ can pull this off then he isnt only the best staying chaser of his generation he is one of the greatest of all time.

The Champ destroyed Al Boum Photo in the RSA chase in 2018.

In the 2019 Gold Cup Al Boum Photo was as fresh as a daisy and tuned to perfection in March. The champ had something took out of him in the gruellinhlg Welsh National and was never quite the same that season.

The champ clearly has the beating of Al Boum Photo if at his best but he is much better this time round. The champ is scared of no horse in the world.

Not Al Boum Photo, not kemboy, not Lostintranslation, not Santini,

The team do not fear any of these horses. The Champ will be crowned in March.

Tizzard must send the champ to Ireland for the Lexus next then rest til March. Beating the Irish in their own backyard will be a perfect set up for the big day in March.

He is a tugboat, he needs 5m+, he needs heavy ground but all of sudden every man and his dog thinks he is a good thing to win on gd/sft round Newbury and become the first horse since Arkle to win the race after placing in it the previous year. He needs to emulate Bobs Worth, Denman, Native River and Arkle.

But they think he is a good thing now even though they say he stands no chance in a gold cup and is a grand national horse.

No wonder the bookmakers are so rich.
